So...

I have a number of questions about my LS-75.

So # one is it seems to not stay in tune for long.

Is this common with this guitar?

Is it just a simple set up thing. What's your luck with it?

Do you stretch your strings after you put them on? How many winds on the post? You can also lock your strings by bending the cut end over the long part at the post before winding.

It's not a guitar issue.

Yeh, that's been done. I think maybe these are 9's.
I might switch it to 10's. I think this is common with Pauls?
I need to buy some.
I'm Spoiled with my Parker Fly's when it comes to tuning.
Parkers are great but they don't sound enough like a Paul for me.

By the way, marcusnieman thanks for not burying me in the sand
during the trials!

Actually,
It might just be an adjustment with the nut, I do hear some of the
catch at the nut when tuning?

i have a pile of LP's and none of them go out of tune, try lubricating the nut with some graphite from a pencil, and like Marcus said make sure you stretch those strings a few times before finally doing your tuning.

If it does turn out to be tuners, I can heartily recommend the Grover Deluxe in the vintage Kluson style:

Okay, Thanks!
How about the electronics in this guitar?

I'm considering changing them out with CTS pots
and new wiring.

Also considering new caps. Anyone recommend or have experience
with this?

Also the pick ups, I want to put Tom Holmes pups in it.

Thanks in advance.

Tuning may also be a nut issue.
LP's are usually pretty good on tuning stability but a good profesional setup should sort out any problems.
Also some brands of strings are better than others.
some people solder the ball end of the string where the string wraps round itself to reduce stretching.

Don't forget that all replacement components (where applicable) will need to be METRIC....some US parts will not fit.

I did notice that the pick up Screw alignment(pole) was a but shorter in length against an older t-top pup that I measured. Will this be an issue
if I use the original bridge and tailpiece with a set of US pups(Tom Holmes)
or will I need to change the bridge and tailpiece and will they fit
on this guitar? I know the guitar will need adjustment to fit the pots already
and the switchcraft toggle would need a long threading nut.

Thanks!

Pickups shouldn't be a problem. Bridge and tailpiece are different than US specs. The Switchcraft switch unit is larger than the cavity hole and will require filing the hole to enlarge.

Listen, I'd start with the pickups first before you start into a project like this. Do things incrementally and see how it sounds.

Well, It's been sent of to the guitar guy to have some work done to
my Tokai Les Paul standard.

The following work:

Set up guitar including a fret adjustment and neck adjustment.

New pick up.set,Tom Holmes H450/H455.I have these in gold so changing screws and cover to Nickle.

2(1 each)X 3 way toggle switches for split/phase and Ser./per. routing.
(I thought about using push pull but, this gives more combination's.+ I
like to use the tone and volume to control the sound.P/P would
be awkward to use in this manner.)

a new input jack.

A .015 400v Black beut. Cap in neck. .022 400v Bumblebee in the bridge.
Both are nos.Not copies.

I'll post some audio in the future.Hope it goes well!
