This is a genuine British handmade guitar, lovingly constructed in Manchester, nothing mass-produced here.

Gordon Smith are often considered the "British Gibson".

The guitar is used and, as such, has a number of light scratches.

On the rear of the headstock a preious owner has etched an alternate dropped tuning notes.

Nothing that even slightly effects its playability and style though.

It plays absolutely superbly, with a low action.

Tone and sustain is beautiful, with a set neck and brass nut design.

The body is thinline and relatively small, so this will not break your back to wear it all evening.

With the right care, will still last a lifetime.

Sounds fantastic, Chris - what amp are you using?

Cheers spikeymikey

Yup, it's a great guitar. I have a Gibson SG and you can get exactly the same tone out of the Gordon Smith by turning it's tone down to about 7.

I recorded it using a Guitar Rig 4 preset, with some tweaking by ear.

Here's a clip of the guitar with the coil tap on and a clean tone.
At the end I play the harmonic and then the note at the 12th fret to show how the intonation is remarkable good. Then I play chords above the 12th fret !

Gordon Smith Coil Tapped Clean.mp3 - 1.28MB

I had considered converting it to a GS1.5, the one with a single coil neck pickup. The Guitar body is already drilled for the neck pickup wire route back to the control cavity.
