A japanese collector with a really awesome guitar-homepage shows this beautyful BURNY RLG-60 Goldtop:

The difference is: The 'nameless' Goldtop is equipped with fret-edge-binding. The research goes on.

As much as I like Burnys, and Lord knows I like them  as I have owned right at thirty or so, this Bacchus BLS gold top is likely all around a better guitar.

I'm sure the price was a bit easier for the buyer to swallow too  ...................

Ralf,

My Burny GT just arrived and is not like yours in the pup cavity unfortunately :(

The original owner fabricated a really nice little stand off to raise the P90's and minus 2 extra little holes in each cavity, no harm done. I find it odd that Burny had not made any sort of raised corners to stand off the P90's as without the little system the original owner had made, they sit a little low into the cavity, just above being flush with the top. Perhaps Burny had used a rubber etc type surround that fit into the cavity and those went missing or fell apart?

This guitar is immaculate minus a little chip on the lower edge however and looks to have hardly been played as the frets have very little wear. It has a nice center seamed 1/4 sawn mahogany back on it as well. :D It appears the original bridge was replaced with a nice Gotoh Japan bridge, which I dig! I suspect it is a mid to late 80's but I took the TRC off and there is a permanent shape of a bell shaped TRC underneath so he either swapped it out originally or had a bell one on there and just placed the winged one on later? No scratched winged shaped of the current TRC in the headstock at all, just the bell shape.

Anyway, here are some photos for your reference as you asked for. Let me know if you want anymore man. Cheers

MOJO HOBO

Haha...yeah this GT is just so **** good, I cannot put it down when I really should be in bed as I am home sick with a case of the old H1N1. Time for you to get one stat!

Regarding the Chandler, I got a really nice Techra case off Yahoo Japan for $70 for it to be shipped in and it arrived earlier this week. I checked out but it still has not been shipped yet, not sure why? :(

It should be safe in this case, if not then it was dropped out of the plane :-?

Hey Udonitron,

very nice images of a superb guitar!!! THANX for sharing!

The off-center tenon is exactly the one I wanted to see. I think the 'no-named'-Goldtop is made ca. 1980, yours around end?80s, early ?90s.

THANX again!

BTW: Do you have a pic of your collection?

All the best,
Ralf

No worries mate. Yeah late 80's I would say at the max. I have found most of the 90's Burny's that were MIJ had a different headstock. The 80's headstock's had a more pronounced & risen center open book and the horns were smaller and less pronounced. The 90's Burny's have a more accurate Gibson headstock with sharper horns and a more recessed open book center to them.

LOL @ MOJO HOBO....I will take what is in window #1 please.
