Epi Japan or fake?

Headstock looks wrong for an Epi Japan.

Didn't the Elites and Elitists that were bound for America all have that headstock?

I have no idea...I've only seen the Japanese domestic headstocks which were the open book.
I ask coz that's a damned good price for a MiJ Epi

Yeah, that headstock shape is correct for a non-domestic Japanese Epi Elite/Elitist. The most butt-ugly headstock I've ever seen on a Les Paul, but reputedly very good guitars.

Fugi Gen uses a variation of it. Not as pronounced at the top of the headstock like an Elitist.

Of course this looks better.

That guitar is 100% real...I must say, the elitist is every bit as good as any non custom shop Gibson Les Paul....
