hi,
I would like to hear your opinion on these guitars.

Bacchus Duke Standard Limited
...I'll have a opportunity to get one from Japan, and avoid tax so I'm thinking about it.
So is worth the 1000usd price difference over Standard Duke.
They are only 12 made.
I'm looking for a guitar for a lifetime, and dont think I would ever sell it...a least i think so now :)

Thank You

Bacchus guitars are extremely well made guitars and Hisashi is a good dealer, i have bought a few guitars of him and everything went very well.
Forum member MIJ vintage will more than likely chime in as well as he has quite a few of these excellent guitars.

Mick

I have played & owned a few Bacchus guitars

My current favorite Bacchus Les Paul type is this one
http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=13671

The playability is truly on par with my 2000 LS-320 but that is just one aspect of many.
It has a more open, woodier tone than my LS-320.

Having said that they are both quite different but the Bacchus is a beast in it's own right.
Holding up to a LS-320 is no small task, and at basically 1/3 the price the Bacchus is a super value.

The Bacchus in your link is likely a killer guitar, and with the Brazilian I'm sure it plays like a dream.

I have never played the Duke examples but I am confident that they are excellent, as most all Bacchus I have played are.

One thing I'm looking at is the weight, which personally it is too heavy for me.

If you can live with a guitar of that weight, then go for it.

.

Well spotted mij, that's 10 1/2 lbs too heavy for me too!

...I know that Bacchus has a good reputation (from this and other forums) but there is not much video reviews
or reviews generally...that's why I'm asking...and on that specific guitar there are none

...I gave that eBay link just so you could see spec. I wouldn't buy it from Hisashi...my friend can bring it
from a guitar store in Tokyo, so it would be a bit cheaper and no shipping costs, tax...
it would be around 2000-2100usd all together I guess

here is a link from Deviser site:
http://www.deviser.co.jp/modules/products/index.php?content_id=120

..as well I cant find any info on what pots, switches, condensers Bacchus uses, I guess its homemade
...can you compare those to parts that Tokai is using (CTS...)

and sorry for my sloppy English ;)
hope you understand everything

tnx again

IMO, Bacchus excells in the areas of choice of materials, construction of the instrument, attention to detail, and consistency of product.
Honestly I have yet to see another brand as obsessed with the above, which is good for those of us that prefer great quality for a moderate price.

I've been pretty satisfied with the pups & electronics in most of my Bacchus Strats.
I cannot however say that for the Bacchus Lesters.

I feel the (potential) weakest point in Bacchus Lesters are the pickups, and electronics.
Pickups, caps, pots, etc. can be changed, it's not a real issue in my mind.

You've got to have some good wood in a solid body guitar to make a good guitar, then the electronics come into play.
I've never had a 'bad' Bacchus in my hands, as they somehow always have the lumber right; amazing 8)

Bacchus uses different brands of pickups, including their own.

The electronics in mine were no joke either...

The P90s in it are of great quality and I can only assume that those are from their own brand, no markings on them. I quite like them.

I'm glad to hear that

..after reading all I could find on forums I've got the same impression
-high quality, didn't see anyone complaining, yet, about the work or materials used
-pickups and hardware, people are mostly satisfied;
maybe a bit more modern sounding pickups then vintage LP, but that's a matter of taste i guess.

..as I'm looking for a "keeper" i agree with MIJvintage, woods are here to stay, everything else can be changed

..nothing from that free shipping from Tokyo, so ill probably go with standard duke, Ive got my eyes on this one

...I just have to sell my old axe and...:)

Drop Hisashi an email, he is also a member here. If i am not wrong NU2U guitars buys from Hisashi and marks up and sells. I have had several dealings with Hisashi and although a little hard to understand he is a good seller and an agent for Bacchus.

Mick

Nu2u guitars is located in switzerland, you have to pay the same
dutys and fees as you buy from japan.

I know, but his prices are usually higher, probably because he has to import them first, pay those fees then on sell them, hence the higher prices.

That depends where he is. Like so many new posters, he doesn't seem to think that we need to know this piece of information....
