L17432 would be a bit into 1985 according to Frankie Benedittini, without knowing about the accuracy for that era.
I don't know who Frankie is, but I have been documenting quite a few guitars as you know.

That serial number is close to at least one 3 piece script logo which dates it to early 1983 (L12041).

There are all sorts of things on the internet that are wrong.

The timeline Gotfried has on his Faber site is also inaccurate, but helpful as a general guide.

So, I think 1985 is too late. In 1985 we are into L2xxxx.

Look at this thread too which may be helpful to bracket things.
