Forum user Hot Rod mailed me these pages yesterday which he photographed from a copy. The pictured guitar is his 1982 LS120 in Old Sunburst / OS. The test is in German unfortunately, but maybe someone wants to translate it if he finds the time...

The Fachblatt Musik Magazin was the most important magazine around that time in Germany, but doesn't exist anymore, so it's hard to dig through older issues in order to find something. I have collected it since 1978, but without a digitalized overview of the content it's way too much stuff to wade through.

Anyhow, this also explains why there were so "many" LS120s from late 1981 and early 1982 available in Germany until ochay bought them all... except one or two, that is... :D

Dang, that should have gone to the Vintage section of course... Ned, can you move it please?

Hans, Why so many LS120/150's in 81/82?
any other information that you thought was interesting?
Now I can see how rusty my german is, I can hardly read the article..

The article overall is very positive about Tokai in general and that tested LS120, says it has a solid maple top, by the way... ;) That's why I wrote it would be an explanation for many sold LS120s in Germany, because the Fachblatt had a lot of influence in the late '70s and early '80s what people would buy here.

I'll probably translate it some time, but at the moment I'm busy with the old and new recordings of my band, e.g. I'm uploading some tracks to my homepage right now. See this thread for a list:

[Edit: The ones that got away...]
In the meantime I've also uploaded two more pictures of Hot Rod's 1982 LS120 that he had sent me a long time ago. I've added some pics of my 1981 model as well, and if you want more early '80s LS120 porn from good ol' Germany, go right here:

Hot Rod also made a nice picture of my LS120 when we played at the Meisenfrei in Bremen:
