Are these Reborns legit?

The lettering of the "Les Paul" looks thicker than normal.

Seem fine to me, maybe a replacement decal?

But there's two of them here with the thicker decal, and I have seen it on a couple of others so probably an original decal that was just different to the thinner one.

Still, something to wonder about.
 
I agree, all 4 of mine (including 2 earlier '79s) are the thinner type. I think these were silk-screened printed as opposed to applied decals - which is strange because they start out thin and 'crisp' and get fatter as the screen wears? They look right in every other respect - so just a production quirk? (maybe the original screen got damaged during production) the character thickness will vary as making the screen is a photo-sensitive exposure, more exposure the fatter the image - who knows. They both look to me like genuine LS50s.

Yeah quite right - they are definitely printed on in some way.
I don't know what I was thinking when I said decal! :oops:
