Thanks for the information. One more question: Is this finish properly called sunburst or flameburst? I am about to offer the guitar for sale and want to be correct in the description.

Help required to identifying 1982 Love Rock, please.

I would like some assistance, please, in identifying this guitar. I purchased it used, in 2003, from a US serviceman stationed in Okinawa This is what I have assumed by referring to your site and the LP site. The serial number 2012968 suggests that it is a 1982 production. The 2-hole truss...

    FAKAI DELUXE

"I couldn't see him giving me the wrong information because it involves a lot of people and i am sure it would upset someone." With all due respect, Mick, your point is the same as mine.

    FAKAI DELUXE

Not guitar related, but a story that may support this. In 1988, I purchased a Datsun 2000 (Fairlady) racecar project that was rumored to be one of the infamous ?Purple Panel? cars. The story went that, as Datsun were trying to market their sports car in America, successes in SCCA racing...

Pruning Tokai collection -need advice and opinions

I would like to get more opinions on which guitars on the list might be considered more 'keepable.' I'm not a speculator, nor am I a 'real' player. I hope soon to have the time to learn and practice. I would appreciate advice from those who do play well, and often. Some specific questions...

Pruning Tokai collection -need advice and opinions

Mick I agree with you. Anything with an 'electric battleaxe' shaped headstock marked -"Make in Korea' is not the same as mine, (or the one listed on Ebay) which has a Tokai headstock. And mine is marked correctly, "Made in Korea." You state that the definitive answer is contained in the emails...

Pruning Tokai collection -need advice and opinions

Mick I believe that there are extremely well made, Korean ones with a lot of information (Tokai, Made in Korea and a serial number) marked in gold on the rear of the headstocks. And a genuine looking Tokai label inside. There are, however, some suspect ones like the one on Ebay right now...

I put some images, of some of the family, in the batch set called 'Tokai' at : http://www.flickr.com/photos/stockstillsphotos/ And, obviously, my photographic skills completely disappear when in the presence of so much beauty!!! Let me know your thoughts.

Pruning Tokai collection -need advice and opinions

In 1999 I bought my 1st Tokai, a black MAT. Impressed with reviews, and the quality of Tokai guitars, I bought more. And more. And you know the rest. Now I need to prune the collection to a reasonable level, but need your advice. I would like to keep some player guitars and some special...

Hi I am the Ebay seller and also a member here. Same 'murthog' username I have no idea how to value this, but I think that the Tele copies with bound bodies are relatively scarce. This is a an original sweet guitar and a glorious player, but it's tax time and I need to thin my large Tokai...

GoldStar Sound Strato Neck on eBay

Gentlemen I purchased this neck previously (Item number: 7352602698) and after receiving it, sent a letter of complaint regarding it's misrepresented condition to the seller. Gretsch 6120 copy model NES 90 TO. Any info?

The reason that the Ebay auction was described as "invalid" was because the seller had used the Gretsch name in his description. Ebay will shut down any auction that uses a trademark to sell a replica. My guitar is made in Korea also. It is also, without a doubt, one of the finest made Tokai's...

Guys I have now received this guitar and it is really stunning!! It is a real Tokai. It has the Tokai model number and guarantee label inside the body. The seller gave me this info: "I purchased it from a fellow that was an instrument distributor from New Jersey. I've had great luck with...
