Has anyone worked with this freeware audio editor for harddisk recording and can share some info about it? I just installed it on a "new" computer (compared to my "vintage" PC) and will try to use it for that at home and later in the rehearsal room.

OK, this fine piece of software will probably keep me busy for the next few weeks! 8) Here's my first take, just using the LS120 as well as the GVerb and WahWah plugin (~2.5 MB, 128 kbps):

Here's the web site for Audacity, being an open source project it's hosted on Sourceforge.net:

hey bit of a late reply, but i've been having fun with it for a few weeks, recording some of my own songs and some of my bands, it's a fantastic little software, but i'm still playing around with it and getting used to it. are you still using it nowadays????

Yes, I've even installed it on my old Cyrix 166+ computer that I still use at home. The samples of my pickup comparison in the Announcement section were done with that setup, that's why you can hear some glitches in the clips caused by the relatively high system resource demands of Audacity. Of course this makes an excellent excuse for sloppy playing, too! :D

That Kashmir track with my unplugged LS120 was recorded on a newer PC with 533MHz though which will be used in our rehearsal room for some new band demos and clips of my old Marshall combo (never recorded it) as soon as I have soldered all necessary cable adapters to our mixing console.

By the way, there's a forum for Audacity users, too:
