Springy With No Serial Number

I found this answer in another thread. So apparently an early Springy and the serial should be in the neck pocket.

1977/1978 Springy's are considered first year issues for them. They are unique in that the early issues (up to mid year 78) had narrow neck plates which will not fit a serial number as you've shown. The serial numbers were inked on the bottom of the neck heel and the model number inked in the neck pocket. Around mid 78, they went to the wider neck plate with the serial number stamped on it like yours. Your serial number does match up to these later 78's. Nice guitar - good price too.
 
Pickups bases went grey in early 78 and marked E, black and white cloth wires.
Model number stamped on the neck, last fret.
Hex truss rod adjuster.
Ser# in the neck pocket matched to the one on the neck.
