"It's a guitar. My father boasted that he bought a vintage guitar for 100,000 or 200,000 yen, but I don't know anything about guitars.
I took a picture of the part where the letters are written, so please see the photo.

I thought this had a different serial number. I think you’re right. Going to correct the serial number above. This listing has better pictures.

Crazy. You are right. Same guitar. But that first serial number looks like 698 and the second 699.

Nice to have the better pictures in the second listing.

Of course I'm (too) familiar with events that make you let go of a great guitar or people just not feeling it but still, I'm always asking myself "what's wrong with it that it gets flipped again?".

You’re right. Different seller.

Looks like it went from Tokyo to Aichi prefecture which is Nagoya, etc. not far from Hamamatsu.

As was pointed out on Facebook, this last one may have actually been another ST60 with gold hardware...

It has a 3 piece body cleverly hidden.



And super confusing because Tokai re-set the serial number count on these gold appointed ST60s in 1980 just like they did with the ST100.

Back on the market…

Well... I guess I finally figured out why it surfaced again... It is not an ST100.

Looks like there were special order ST60 guitars that got these neck plates as well. It has a 3 peice body that is well matched and I missed it because I thought these serial numbers were only for ST100s.

Turns out it is more likely that they stamped a bunch of gold plated neck plates and used them in 1980/81 until the numbering system changed in 1982.

VERY confusing.

Plus the original seller said his dad got it fro 100-200,000 yen....Still a nice guitar, but not an ST100.

Here is my 1979 ST100GS

It is a bit atypical because it has nickel finish hardware original from the factory. Apparently this was an option as I have seen it on other ST100s. There is no trace of gold wash anywhere on the hardware, so I am certain this is how it left the factory.

It is definitely an ST100. I have the original warranty card, fret board stamp, neck pocket stamp, etc. All numbers and codes match.

Absolutely beautiful, must make you smile every time you open the case. Thx for sharing.
