Is this a legit AST-62

It is hard to tell a lot from those pictures. Can't see the serial number, can't see the pickups, can't tell if the codes match, etc.

But on the surface it looks like it could be correct.

Here is another one to compare to:

Man... that board is so dark it looks like ebony. I like it!

Thank you! The serial is 3698. I’m deciding between this or a 1993 fender mij strat. Any differences I should be aware of? The fender is 300.00 more.

The headstock shape. The Tokai is a fine guitar, but the headstock shape tends to depress the prices realized on these. It would be a great player.

Thank you! Do you think that 3698 is a legit serial number for an ast-62? From what I see the serial numbers are longer than 4 digits.

Those are weird. They were made around the time of Tokai's financial troubles and lots of odd stuff happened.

The key would be as I said, whether the neck and body codes go together and if it still has the correct pickups.

Typically the 4 digit number would go on the AST-56, but again, lots of weirdness during that period around 1985.
