Hi,

My dad sadly passed away last week and so we have a number of guitars to sell over the coming months.

Whilst researching values I have been stumped by his Tokai Springy Sound with a serial 61081. Unless I am misunderstanding the registry suggests this is 1962 Tokai Guitar Registry - Tokai Info: Guitar Specs, Catalogs, Magazine Reviews & Ads. Is this correct?

He did mention to us some of the guitars that he thought were worth more but I can't remember whether this one was one he thought was valuable so I am trying to get opinions on whether its genuine based on photos.

Many thanks!

Never seen anything like that.

The decal is wrong. That truss rod adjustment on Tokais came along after 2000, but that decal only lasted through 1982.

Nothing about the guitar looks like a Tokai.

Looks Korean or Chinese to be honest. Slab fretboard.

What is the serial number?

Nice flamed neck.

Thanks for the input, the serial is 61081. Dad did have some replicas as well as real ones so Im keen to make sure we don't try and sell anything as genuine when its not

And I am really sorry for your loss. My dad passed in 2020. Still tough.

Thanks, that definitely looks like the same guitar. Its keeping us occupied going through them all but yeah we are all devastated at losing dad.
