Going to collect these.

Tokai made flamed neck models for a while then stopped doing it altogether it seems.

I would guess that the wood is not only harder to source, but also harder to work with and finish to a smooth surface with the irregularities in the wood?

Probably not very stable, either.
I see a lot of cheap guitars with flamed necks, but not that many 'good' guitars with them.
