This one is weird to me.

Has an oval 70 sticker, but is not a slab board so is not the typical 70 model.

Wondering if the trem bumped the price up???

Just realised a guy in a band I play with has one of these. It's a standard sunburst tst50, U pups with the Tokai extra trem and locking nuts. The locking nuts are long gone. No model sticker, I thought someone had modded it but now I realise it's probably factory. Looks just the same as the one in your first post.

Same guitar posted above as listed by different seller.

The TST70ET is a completely different kind of TST70. Not a slab board rare model.

It becomes a 70 because of the extra hardware. Same way the TST80ET becomes and 80 even though it does not have a V neck or lacquer finish.

That's interesting, a guy in my band has one of these, I thought it was a 50 as it's got U pups. But it had the extra tokai trem which has recently been removed and evidence of long removed locking tuners. Identical to this one, I think it's L12###. Must be a TST70!

Yeah. Talk about confusing. At the same time they were also making the TST70 rare model. At least the maple board version up into 1984 I believe.

The upcharges had to drive everyone at the factory crazy trying to keep things straight.

That left the factory with that 70 sticker.

Now this guitar makes more sense.

I remember arguing with the seller who claimed it was an ST70. Looks like he was right, sort of.

Possibly a late 1982 TST70 ET ?

So I finally got around to disassembling my 1983 Springy Sound with the ET "treatment" - likely an ST50 before the ET was installed, but I haven't been able to find any seams in the body yet, but quite sure they are there. C shaped one piece neck I think suggests that too ? U stamped pickups as well. Does the stamp on the neck heel mean anything ?

I think the silver hardware and U pickups make it a TST70 ET.

By any chance did you get pictures Of the side of the switch?

On second thought. That’s a September/October 1982 guitar. Wow

I believe they put this hardware on some Springys before the official release in January 1983.

Okay that could very easily be - its going to be my forever strat in any case. A joy to play, even though it will need some fret levelling at some point. Totally happy with those U pickups. I've had some good luck lately !
