Documenting these to see where they are from and when they were made.

Seems to be a range of dates starting around 1986/87 and through the 90s at least.

The age of big hair and the HSS configuration.

My 1987, Tokai Custom Edition ‘JSD 653’ in the rather fetching black cherry metallic paint finish was my first real guitar. I purchased from a secondhand guitar shop in Smithfield Market, Belfast around 1991 and bhoy has it seen some action.

PK520545I am still amazed I haven’t destroyed it through my reckless disregard for her safety in my wild student years.

By the time I bought her, someone had already removed the factory fitted ‘Ayers-Rocker’ trem system and replaced it with a six screw Japanese made solid block traditional ‘Fender style’ trem. She was immediately named ‘the babe’ and letraset transfer letters bearing her name were used on the back of the headstock.

In the 25 years or so that I have owned the babe I have replaced the original trem with a fixed Kahler ‘Hybrid’ bridge and recently found an original Tokai AYR Bridge which I love.

I have also experimented with numerous pickup combinations – and the guitar now boasts the original L. White humbucker in the bridge and two Mighty Mite s/c Blade pickups in the neck and middle positions. I stupidly sold the original L.White grey backed single coils for a swan in the late 90’s….. Boo hoo…. Sob sob…..

Exactly.... Color looks really weird. Maybe yellowed? Or bad lighting? Or the formula changed?

Point of note the Concorde guitar was the original napkin sketch that Randy Rhoads did with Grover Jackson of Charvel Guitars. This was the first guitar to have Jackson on the headstock. Randy wanted to improve fret accessibility and make the body more accessible so he ordered the first RR model which was black without a trem, another white and black were made for him with inverted shark fin inlays. There are a few shots of Randy playing the Black sharkfin as it has become known as but the other two didnt reach him before his death. Both were displayed at the 1982 NaMM show and someone mistakenly sold the white one which is now under auction. Note the next player to use the RR model was Vinnie Vincent in Kiss in 1983, Gold then pink model with invested sharkfin inlays. Yes, I'm a Randy Rhoads fan / geek

TOKAI トーカイ コンコルドヘッドネック つばだ... - ヤフオク!

Specifications: 86 TOKAI JSD-603 neck.

The Strat head is SD and the Jackson head is JSD, and this is the Jackson head.

A Charvel type neck with a thin neck and a square fingerboard end.

At that time, the Strat head was not very popular, and this one was more popular.

This one is a scarf joint and takes more time.

However, for some reason the Strat head uses a 0F nut, but this Concord head uses a Kahler type nut.

Is it because the Charvel MODEL series of the same period also used a Kahler type nut?

It will be changed with a minor change on the way.

The scarf joint has no steps, and the fret corners are chamfered.

The specs are

his regular scale (648 mm) with 22 frets.

Specifications are maple and rosewood fingerboard.

The back of the neck has a half-matte finish.

The fingerboard is not so R, and the grip of the neck is a thin C shape.

Frets are slightly larger than standard frets.

A normal ride nut is included.

The pegs are compatible with rotomatic pegs with screw holes right next to them.

The joint is an orthodox 4-point plate stop.

Size: The neck end size is 56.0mm wide, 26.6mm thick (not including frets), and 43.0mm wide at the nut.

Condition: A small scratch on the head, a slight chip on the back, and a small scratch on the back of the neck.

The current state of the rod is straight, and the rod has plenty of room to turn left and right.

The frets are generally 70% to 80% remaining.

Maintenance: Appearance polishing, fingerboard cleaning, lemon oil coating.

A mailing cost is Yu-pack 100 size.

The Concord Head wasn't that good for a while either, but thanks to the popularity of the Jackson/Charvel line, it has regained its popularity.

TOKAI トーカイ L.WHITE SDS DRIVE ラージポール... - ヤフオク!

Specifications: A single coil that was installed in the center of the 86 TOKAI JSD-603.

A single coil called TOKAI SUPER DRIVE was sold for 15,000 yen at that time.

In the catalog,

he is an alnico Φ6 big pole piece and a formidable power born from OFC wiring.

Sharp and bright sound with waist.

is what it reads.

This PU was originally developed by Tokai in the mid-80s.

Lawrence White seems to have been involved in the development, so it's called L.WHITE.

It is a PU that uses OFC (non-oxidized copper) for the coil and has some manual winding, which is quite costly.

Single coil featuring coverless, copper foil shield, decapole piece and alnico magnet.

High power single coil.

The resistance value is 11.87kΩ.

It will be for hanging with a pickguard.

The length of the lead wire is about 12 cm.

Condition: The appearance is a bobbin without a cover and a large pole piece specification, so it is a PU that is prone to aging.

The pole piece is slightly rusted, but the bobbin has not deteriorated so much and can be used without problems.

The L.WHITE logo is about to disappear and can be easily removed with a wet cloth, so it may be better to remove it when you get to this point.

Mounting screws and springs are included.

Shipping: Yu-Packet 210 yen.

Normally, OEM PU manufacturers are equipped with various names for each brand, but this is a TOKAI original PU.
