Can you tell me, why you think that this is a LS-120 and not a LS-100 or 150 or even 200?

Will not lie, i bought the guitar today because i love the flame of it and also i thought it might be a solid top.

Congrats!

Note that there is a "?" in the title.

In 1981, if it was a flame top it would probably not be an LS80 (although we have seen at least one early LS80 with a flametop owned by currypowder), and a few LS100's with flame tops.

In 1981 LS120's came with a veneer and a solid flame top.

If it has a PCB it is not an LS150 or 200.

So highest chance it is an LS120, but definitely not a certianty.

Let us know if it has a solid top and if it has the PCB.

Thanks!

Yeah, I searched all those threads to get an idea of what could be possible, and since there was no picture of the electronics and pickup cavity, I thought it could be anything from 100-200, but it makes sense.

I will post some pictures when the guitar arrives :)

Thank you!

Also it looks like the bridge humbucker is a super distortion, maybe it is a LS-150.
More likely the original has been swapped out. I believe LS150s had DiMarzio PAF and not Super Distortion PUs. Maybe the neck PU is original but what's in the control & PU cavities will be the most telling.

The LS150 had a combination of the two in 1981.

Can't wait to see if it has a PCB.

If you go to the LS-150 gallery you can see that nearly every LS-150 with uncovered pickups has a super distortion as bridge pickup.

Package is still in customs, but i think you can estimate the model number from the headstock picture from warehouse and it looks like a 120.

So i think you are right @Sigmania

I think i see a 2 right under the 2 from the serial number, but will see.
I just hope for a solid top.

I used Zenmarket and EMS. Packaging took a while +1 day export customs and now third day in import customs. Bad luck i guess.

Looks like it could be a "5" below the 2.

Hard to say. Like an ink blot test.

I did this on an LS80 I have. Took me years to finally see it on my guitar. Took lots of manipulation on light levels and contrast.

Finally got it. It is a LS-150 :)

What really fascinates me, is that it looks like it was never played. The case also looks like new.
