Dreadnought's masterpiece, the CE2500, is more worthy of being considered a work of art than a guitar. With a top made of Scots pine veneer carefully selected after a long period of drying and seasoning, veneer Jacaranda on the sides and back, and a mahogany neck, you really can't ask for anything better. Treasures created only by craftsmen with the highest level of skill, experience, and musicality using top-class materials. ``Forest of Masterpieces'' This is truly the king of the Cat's Eye series. The overall design is a masterpiece. This is the return of the masterpiece Martin Prewar D45. In 1933, the D45 was specially made for singing cowboy Gene Autry, a Western movie star and singer.Only 91 units were built until production was halted in October 1942 due to wartime material restrictions. The production policy and spirit of the D45, the legendary guitar, was inherited through a technical partnership and crystallized into the CE2500

Production process.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 2.50.05 PM.png

1. Reduce the moisture content of the wood by natural drying. Once the precious guitar materials collected from all over the world are finished being sawn into logs, they are exposed to Hamamatsu's climate, which is perfect for making guitars, for about two to four years. This is an extremely important process that reduces the ``free water'' in the wood to a moisture content of 18% or less. In Hamamatsu, this is called haizumi and has become a specialty.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 2.50.16 PM.png

2/3. Remove "bound water" by artificial drying. It is artificially dried using intense heat and steam for about a week. This is to remove the ``bound water'' that is attached to the structure of the wood. The staff in charge are always in a battle with the instruments. The important point is that if the material is not naturally dried, the distortion after artificial drying will be severe enough to make it unsuitable for use as a musical instrument material. It is also basic to dry only the same materials by hand.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 2.50.36 PM.png

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 2.50.53 PM.png

4/5. Season the ingredients to perfection Ru. Materials that have been artificially dried and products that are in the middle of wood processing enter a seasoning room that is constantly air-conditioned. The temperature is always maintained at 20 degrees Celsius and the humidity is 35%, making it feel like California. The standard equilibrium moisture content is set at 7~8% to create a perfect material.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.03.20 PM.png

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.04.11 PM.png

6. The selection of materials has a great effect on the sound. The seasoned material is carefully checked for board thickness, wood grain, and graininess, and then thoroughly polished. Only carefully selected materials are left as guitar materials. The horizontal stripes of heather make the sound more appealing than the beautiful appearance. In relation to sound, this requires a super veteran who can select materials. Work is impossible.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.04.19 PM.png

7. Sufficient carrier is also required for scraping the adhesive part of the surface plate. The center of the guitar is the hook on the top plate. This part is the center of everything in the guitar, and even the slightest deviation is not tolerated. After highly skilled craftsmen carefully cut the two front panels on the left and right, the next step is gluing them together.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.04.30 PM.png

8. Adhesion of the surface plate is also an important point. The completely bookmarked (left-right symmetrical) top plate is glued as shown in the photo. It seems simple at first glance, but it is extremely difficult. It would be a disaster if this adhesive surface were to crack. Technology that has been passed down through a long tradition can demonstrate its potential in these areas. This completes one averaged surface plate.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.05.06 PM.png

9. Cut out the top plate to make it look like a guitar. It's this process that finally makes it look like a guitar. The outer circumference is carefully cut with a band saw. nervous It's a moment.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.05.25 PM.png

10. Carving the sound hole groove requires delicate nerves. Use a drill to cut a purfling groove in the center of the top plate. A deviation of even 0.1 mm from the center is not allowed.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.05.36 PM.png

11. Purfling requires balance. The important points are the combination of cells, the accuracy of the groove width, and the balance of the hand that inserts the cells.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.05.50 PM.png

12. Sun attachment is unique to Tokai. Completely straight-grained sound rods and strength pieces are glued one by one with glue. X-bracing, bracing arrangement, etc. are carefully considered at the design stage. In the past, crimping was done using a core rod, but special mechanization has been used to achieve a more perfect bond.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.06.03 PM.png

13. The craftsman's career is important when it comes to San-Kezuri. A finely honed chisel, a craftsman's hand more precise than a machine, chisels Sun's device one by one. This is now completely in the realm of ``Kan.'' We use the same construction method as Martin's, which is the most important process for creating sound.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.06.11 PM.png

14. The branding iron on the back plate is proof of skill. The back plate goes through the same process as the front plate, and a cat's eye branding iron is placed on it. The unique logo mark is Tokai's pride. This is proof of high quality

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.06.22 PM.png

15/16. The craftsman's skills are the key to making the body and laying out the surface. Two blocks and four corner pieces are glued to the symmetrically carved side panels to create the approximate shape of the body. After that, the flattening process continues in order to bond the front and back plates together, but since this is also an extremely delicate sloped process, the key to this is a well-kept plane and the skill of a skilled craftsman.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.06.40 PM.png

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.06.52 PM.png

17. The process up to instep attachment (making the body) determines the rank of the guitar manufacturer. Now it's time to glue the front, back, and sides together. This is called the pasting process, and the important points in creating the sound are almost completed. The process up to this point determines the technical level and rank of a guitar maker. Cat's Eye Guitar is proud of its long tradition, continuous research, and high-quality materials and processing technology. There is no limit to the depth of sound creation.

18/19. The borders and cell decorations are beautifully rolled. Herringbone and Mexican shellfish are precisely bordered on the outer periphery of the body without deviations of 0.1mm, and the cells are wound without even the slightest gap. Adds class to the simple shape of the cat's eye guitar.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 2.51.38 PM.png

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 2.51.54 PM.png

20. The cell finish makes it look like a guitar body. Once the cell winding is complete, a rough finish is applied. The purpose is to remove any overflowing adhesive. It is this process that makes the body look like a guitar. It's around the corner.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 2.52.13 PM.png

21. Determine the rough shape by machining the neck. The well-dried neck material, such as mahogany, is machined to roughly carve it to a certain extent.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.03.32 PM.png

22. Season it to make the perfect neck material. After machining, it is put into Tokai's proud seasoning room, just like the body material, to create the perfect neck material. This is also one of the important processes.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.15.08 PM.png

23/24. Filling head inlays depends on the craftsman's concentration. Before the neck is joined to the body, it is filled with peghead inlays, the symbol of the Cat's Eye guitar. Using tweezers, each piece of shellfish, each 2mm thick, is filled into the groove created by the engraving machine. It's a job that really requires patience. After this, dovetail grooves are machined on the body to ensure a secure fit.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.15.27 PM.png

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.16.36 PM.png

25. Dovetail groove machining brings out the craftsmanship of craftsmen. We are finally entering the most difficult process in making a guitar. The photo shows the neck joint, or dovetail groove, being finished. After increasing precision through machining, a craftsman with a long career completes the work with a chisel.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.16.49 PM.png

26. The neck joint continues the Martin tradition. Join the neck to the adjusted body. This method for making cat's eye guitars is called the ``dovetail joining method'' and is extremely precise and strong. Of course, Martin also uses this method. Another joining method is the dowel joining method, but the dovetail joining method is far superior.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.17.06 PM.png

27. Neck angle adjustment determines playability. It takes a craftsman with an excellent craftsmanship to perfectly join a single neck to the body. His eyes never miss the slightest deviation. The key points for finding an easy-to-play neck angle and suppressing chatter and string height are all established at the time the neck is joined. Pitch setting also has a lot to do with it.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.17.23 PM.png

28. Fingerboard alignment is also a key point for playability. A set neck. Align the fingerboard with this neck. It goes without saying that if the neck plane isn't perfectly exposed, the fingerboard won't be flat either. After thorough checks, a steel bar is embedded and the fingerboard is glued to prevent the neck from warping.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.17.39 PM.png

29/30. Fret strikes determine pitch. The body, neck, and fingerboard are completed. Finally, we moved on to the important step of determining the pitch, the fretwork. Once again, the fingerboard surface is carefully checked and finished, and each fret is extremely carefully hammered in. It is one of the processes that requires the utmost care and skill.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.18.00 PM.png

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.18.19 PM.png

31/32. A guitar with a radiused neck that is easy to play. He finishes the neck using well-used tools such as chisels, Nankin planes, small knives, and woodworking files. The neck radius of the easy-to-play Cat's Eye guitar is created with a Craftsman feel. It's really reassuring to have a craftsman who plays the guitar himself and is passionate about it.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.18.39 PM.png

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.18.56 PM.png

33/34. The checkman's eye shines on the wood finish. Finally, we have arrived at the final stage of woodworking. After going through a number of processes, the guitar undergoes a final finish before being painted, and then passes a rigorous inspection by a checkman. At this point, there are times when the guitar is out. But that's exactly what makes a great Cat's Eye guitar available to guitarists.

35/36. When painting, the real feeling is important. It can be applied in a variety of ways, including spraying and brushing. The most basic point is to value the feel of the wood grain. The coating also has a subtle effect on the tone, so it must be made as thin as possible. I don't like guitars that have too much of a mirror-like shine.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.23.06 PM.png

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.23.23 PM.png

37/38. Martin did the intermediate sharpening and pickguard installation. It's so cool. When painted, the painted surface looks just like ground glass, and is then semi-sanded to achieve smoothness. In fact, this ``sharpening'' is the lifeblood of the painting process. The pickguard is completely Martin-esque, covered in paint and paint. (CE400 or higher).

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.23.45 PM.png

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.24.02 PM.png

39. Water hooks are also an important point in painting. Once the coating is finished, the painted surface is given a final finish by wet sanding. Every part of the guitar has this sharpening applied to it. This process is also important in terms of aesthetics and durability

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.24.15 PM.png

40. Buffing requires advanced technology. A wet-honed guitar is quickly finished with a buff that rotates at high speed. This is an important process that requires advanced technology and experience.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.24.31 PM.png

41/42. Assembling and bridge installation, almost completed. The polished guitar is covered to prevent scratches before it is assembled. First, the condition of the neck is checked and then the bridge is glued on. The paint on the adhesive surface of the bridge can be completely removed and it can be firmly attached using glue and a jig.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.24.58 PM.png

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.25.22 PM.png

43. Fret adjustment is an important point for playability. Fret adjustment is one of the most difficult processes, requiring great care and skill. In addition to the flat finish to prevent chattering, the overall playability is pursued.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.25.35 PM.png

44. The inspection is done by the players themselves. After the pegs and strings are set, the inspection process begins. First check the neck angle. You can start with this. Naturally, a large number of players are chosen as the checkman. Inspecting the guitar from the perspective of the player gives it an pleasant quality.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.25.48 PM.png

45. String height adjustment also determines playability. Checking the string heights of the 1st and 6th strings is an important point in determining playability. Here's the secret to the easy-to-play Cat's Eye guitar. Of course, don't forget to set the first fret.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.26.01 PM.png

46. The craftsman is artistic in adjusting the nut. Adjusting the nut is an important step in properly absorbing string vibrations and achieving longer sustain. The depth and width of the nut groove can be said to be perfect. It is an artistic task that requires career, skill, and concentration.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.26.15 PM.png

47. The final check is also thorough. After checking the appearance, the instruments are seasoned for about a week. Subsequent changes are then checked again, and subtle readjustments are discussed, resulting in a perfect tune-up.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.26.29 PM.png

48. After completion and packaging, the guitar arrives at your fingertips. It takes approximately six years to complete one guitar, from the raw wood to the final packaging process. The final touches have been made, and the Cat's Eye guitar is finally being played by guitarists from all over the world.

Screen Shot 2023-10-12 at 3.26.47 PM.png

49. V sign of completion! Excellent staff to work with. A face full of "Cat's Eye spirit" that loves music and making guitars. We want you to experience the wonderful sound of the Cat's Eye guitar for yourself.

CF Martin & TOKAI

Martin's repair room is located in one corner of the Cat's Eye factory. Tokai Musical Instruments is the sole distributor and sole service center for Martin guitars in Japan, and repairs everything from frets to paint using genuine Martin parts. It goes without saying that the craftsman's repair techniques have been passed down directly from Martin and are also used in the Cat's Eye guitar. When purchasing a Martin guitar, you can always rest assured. Tokai Musical Instruments user card is not included. Does the guitar have a Tokai Musical Instruments warranty card? Please be sure to check whether it is true or not. Repair in case of emergency We do not accept repairs on Martin guitars.

Martin's history is also Tokai's history. Martin's craftsmanship has been inherited by the Cat's Eye Project team, and traditional methods continue to flow into Cat's Eye guitars. Let's introduce Martin Corporation here. CF Martin & Company. Founded in September 1833. New York. The founder, Christian Frederick Martin, was an immigrant from Germany. He learned the technique from his father, a guitar maker in Germany, and then moved to Vienna. It is said that in Vienna, Hubert (19 years old at the time) fell in love with the guitar and mastered it in a short period of time, playing the guitar whenever a song came to mind. Schubert was close to the famous luthier Stauffer, who made Schubert's Arpeggione for cello and guitar. Schubert then composes the Arpeggione Sonata. This is a song that is loved by modern cellists. He honed his skills under Marutaufer and became the factory manager. Martin Guitar's traditional methods of craftsmanship were practiced long before the company was founded in 1833. It was in May 1839 that the Martin Company was moved from New York to Nazareth, Pennsylvania. This place is very famous as CF Martin's hometown. He thought that the area was similar, that Henry Schatz, a guitar craftsman who also came from Germany, lived there, and that the rich, green environment was most suitable for making guitars. Nazareth is about a three-hour drive from New York and is still an extremely beautiful place with small hills and lots of greenery nearby. Many of the people in this town work at the Martin factory, so much so that it is also known as Martin Guitar Town. These people take pride in working in the same workplace for generations. These are the people who support the tradition of Martin's simple in-guitar design and wonderful sound. If you take a tour of the factory, you can see the thoroughly dried Martin bodies being carefully inspected on the workbench with all their attention, making sure not to overlook even the slightest scratches or cracks. According to the company, this is our craftsmanship. He also said that he has full trust in Tokai Gakki as a company that is responsible for all after-sales services and repairs for Martin guitars, and that he would like to continue researching together with us how we can make even better guitars. .

John Lenbourn ● A genius of British folk. He was very active in Pentangle with Tou Jansch, and is now attracting attention among connoisseurs as a solo guitarist. His words after getting the CE2000T: Jesus!!

Sam Bush
A young bluegrass player. He not only plays the mandolin and fiddle, but also plays the guitar with great taste. Great for festivals and studio work with the CE2000 prototype.

Happy & Artie
Classy brothers from New York. Both are active as solo artists. He lives in Woodstock and is famous as a member of the Mud Acres. He boasts a wide range of musical careers from blues to folk to old jazz, and uses the CE2000T in his studio and workshop

Peter Rowan
"Bluegrass Boys," "Earth Opera," "Sea Train," "Old and in the Way," "Rowan's" and recently came to Japan as the Red Hot Pickers. His guitar is more tasteful than delicious, which is typical of him. The CE2000T is his favorite instrument after the herringbone

Isato Nakagawa
One of the few folk guitarists in Japan who can effectively use the guitar. In today's Japanese folk music world, which is dominated by professionals who can only play chords, he is someone who needs to be more highly regarded. The cat's eye guitar was chosen as a ``tool'' that matched his musical aspirations

Ryudo Uzaki
Active in all directions as a rocker, composer, and guitarist. Ryudo, a hero of the 1980s, may show us new musical possibilities. I love the cat's eye guitar for its acoustic sound. He also said, ``It's essential for recording and composing."

How To Care

``Trees live until they turn to ashes.'' This phrase is important for both manufacturers and players. A guitar is mostly made of wood. Therefore, a certain amount of maintenance and storage is required to keep it in the same condition all the time. Even cat's eye guitars, created through a strict quality control system, can have a short lifespan depending on how they are handled. In order to enjoy great sound for a long time, please follow the maintenance and management points below.

About storage

1. I would definitely recommend a dedicated hard case for storage. It protects your precious guitar from unexpected shocks and the effects of the outside air.

2. If you don't want your guitar to lose its luster, keep it away from materials such as plastic, vinyl, and synthetic leather. If you use a strap made of synthetic leather, it will contain solvent, which will damage the guitar's surface paint if you put it in the same lace.

3. The best way to polish a guitar is to use cotton gauze that has been moistened with warm water and wrung out tightly. This will wipe away harmful chemicals. Furniture polish contains harsh compounds that will scratch the guitar's paint. To polish your guitar, I recommend using Martin's special poly ash and beautiful soft luster.

4. There is no need to loosen the strings unless you have not played the instrument for several months. If you stretch or loosen the strings, the sound will not be consistent and the strings will not last as long.

5. I want you to get into the habit of wiping off any oil or dirt from your hands on the strings, body, or pegs after playing.

For Humidity & Temperature

1. You can improve the conditions inside the case by putting a desiccant inside the case during the rainy season, and a humidifier (for example, a sponge dampened with water in a soap box) during the dry season.

2. Do not open the case immediately after entering the room from outdoors during the cold winter season. In an instant, water droplets can get onto the wood parts, causing trouble and also having a negative impact on the wood itself. Please try to gradually bring it to room temperature.

3. When not playing, place it in a well-ventilated, low-humidity place away from direct sunlight.

Moving the Guitar

1. When traveling by car, please do not carry your guitar in the trunk. The temperature inside the case rises more than expected, causing trouble with the guitar. The back seat is much safer.

If you are traveling by air, please treat it as special baggage if possible and do not check it together with regular baggage.

About the Performance

My goal is to play the guitar as much as I can, even if it's just for 10 minutes a day. The guitar is a living thing, and as you continue to play it, the sound will get better and better.

I don't think it's a good idea to play it casually with a dirty sound. The guitar tunes in to the dull sound, and even the highest quality guitar can't produce that kind of sound. On the other hand, if you play clearly and with a beautiful, loud sound, the guitar will start to resonate more and more. Learn to listen to objectively check your own sound.

About Strings

I want you to save money on strings and never buy cheap ones. Strings range from pin to sharp depending on the manufacturer, and no matter how good a cat's eye guitar is, you won't be able to produce a beautiful sound with bad strings. I would like you to use original cat's eye strings or Martin or Dalco strings.

When changing strings, change the entire set. This is to maintain the balance of the sound. When replacing the strings, it is better not to remove all six at once, but one at a time. This is to keep the neck condition constant.

Other notes

There are many reasons why the strings may be rattling, such as the neck warping backwards, the neck being normal but the bridge is too low, and the neck and bridge being normal but the frets are sticking. Please be careful because there is.

① When a guitarist causes the strings to vibrate extremely perpendicular to the fingerboard surface.

② If fingering is not done properly next to the frets. After checking the above, if there is any damage, it is best to contact a repair professional. Please refer to the instruction manual included with the cat's eye strings for the correct way to string them. Beginners should also consult with more experienced players to quickly master the correct way to play and store the guitar. The most important thing is not to use it for guitars, and to know everything about it and use it to the fullest. If you love the guitar and play it with all your heart every day, you will naturally learn many things.
