I know that we have seen some late 1970s/early 1980s LS50 BB examples in the past that had the black paint stripped and revealed some quite impressive maple tops; flame, figure, birdseye, etc.

If I would have owned that LS80 with the 120 stamp in the neck pickup route I would have sanded the route (side) walls on the maple top to see if there was any hint of flame, and/or figure. ;)

I can just imagine what might be revealed on the maple top under that BB finish color :unsure:
 
Phantom is/was a member here. Once upon a time he was very active on this forum. His number one was a black LS-50. Removed the paint from a pick up cavity and discovered some nice wood. He Decided to strip the whole guitar and ended up with a very nice flame top two piece.
