1984 Tokai Goldstar Sound (ST50) - Candy Apple Red

Hi. Thanks for the info. Were they still making Goldstar models with Fender like headstocks in 1987 ? As regards to the pots, I have changed the electronics but I should have them somehere. I will look under the pickguard next time I change the strings.

[Sold!] 1980 Greco Super Real EGF 850 - for sale or trade!

I have bought the SA1200 from Alex, just received yesterday. Beautiful guitar, full of stories... plays amazingly well, sounds terrific. If I hadn't read about the broken headstock, I would have never known it was there at some point (except for the change in color of course...) , the repair is...

    My reliced Burny RLG-50

Yeah, with this kind of finish, you don't really care anymore about a new dent in the guitar...

    My reliced Burny RLG-50

@Alan : not so sure. Some people put the body in a freezer for a short period of time I think. Not sure if that's how he did it actually. Some other people do the weather checking with a scalpel (Tom Murphy I think ?)

    My reliced Burny RLG-50

You're right, that's almost as much as the guitar itself. But I liked the guitar itself as an instrument, and I wonder if I would have made the changes on an expensive instrument. I wanted to test on an instrument for which I would not have any remorse. I have changed the wiring harness, and...

    My reliced Burny RLG-50

Marcus, it did cost 500€ in total. Around 580 USD. Rather reasonable I think.

    My reliced Burny RLG-50

Got this guitar last year, a 1983 model if I'm correct. A nice guitar, but was never too fond of the finish. So I found a guy specializing in refinishing and relicing, I asked him something in the spirit of Joe Bonamassa's Snakebite burst, and here is the result : I must...

Maybe a ST-70 in the end, as it has a 6 digit serial number ?

1984 Tokai Goldstar Sound (ST50) - Candy Apple Red

Cool coincidence, I also purchased this week a 1984 Candy Apple Red Goldstar from a pawnshop, but with a rosewood fingerboard. Got it for what I think is really good price. Obviously the guys didn't know what they had. I first I thought it would be a ST-50, but I am not so sure now as it has a 6...

Tokai Goldstar strat - ST 50 or ST 60 ?

Well, pickups have a U stamped on them. From what I have read on another site, the ST-60 should have 8 screws for the pickguard (mine has 11), and a round string tree (mine is the standard one). So I likely have a ST-50. Still a great guitar.

Tokai Goldstar strat - ST 50 or ST 60 ?

Hi Guys. I have just purchased a lovely candy apple red Tokai Goldstar strat, from the informations I have gathered it should be a 1984 model. How can I know if it's a ST-50 or an ST-60 type ?
