I'm back with a new purchase: '80s Burny RLG 50 from Ishibashi

Winged bell, plaintop and old logo cut - most likely 1989.

    Fernandes Revival TL-62 identification

Same as those 80's bluebursts... many have turned green over time. They had some green finishes, but not for these models.

    Fernandes Revival TL-62 identification

That was probably me... The serials in the 90's are purely sequential and apparently affixed at warehouse level. That means that some guitars will have build dates that are earlier than the sticker. An example of this is the ZZ Top promo tele they made for the Antenna album, which mainly has...

    Fernandes Revival TL-62 identification

The 90's are a flurry of non-Fernandes specific models, with production by the regular Fender makers Fujigen and Dyna. Stamps vary over time, and sometimes it looks like discontinued Fender models. At this time, this line wasn't really Fernandes' bread and butter, but something I think they felt...

Chushin (?) Built Fernandes Stone Logo Thru Neck Guitars & Basses

With Fernandes sometimes having more than one supplier for certain products, I think we'll have to go over all the available material and segment them into variations. I may even have data to verify that some (like the one with the larger pickup routes) were modified etc.

Chushin (?) Built Fernandes Stone Logo Thru Neck Guitars & Basses

Thanks, this is great info. I know we looked at Fresher builds before, but apparently didn't have enough to pin it to Chushin (maybe the differing routs as you mention in the last post). These models were rather short lived as well, and with Chushin joining in to pick up the slack after Tokai on...

1985 Snakebit Snakeskin TLC Les Paul Custom

Actually, he had the Orange from earlier and traded it with me for some other stuff before this one came on. I was the one who bought this lot (to get the first Orange catalog) and gave him some of the other stuff.

1985 Snakebit Snakeskin TLC Les Paul Custom

Four, actually… We've seen the endorsement material where Zakk rocks the Sustainer equipped RLC-105S Burny Les Paul Custom in the catalogs and the promo video (), and I've sort of called the white RLC-105S the Zakk Wylde (with the black usually being called the Pata model, and the trem equipped...

1980s Tokai store models - FourLife store 1987

Tokai models SX-100D and SJ-100D as part of the FourLife stores "Crest" concept series. @52K Yen with Seymour Duncan pickups. Sensational debut of the new concept model Crest Series Fernandez and Tokai. The Crest Series was born from a product partnership between these two giants. Its advanced...

1985 Snakebit Snakeskin TLC Les Paul Custom

This last one (which will end up here in Norway) is also very similar, but the "diamonds" are too far up, yours too far down.

1985 Snakebit Snakeskin TLC Les Paul Custom

Yeah, aware of that and puzzled myself that it wasn't an TLC-variant. Maybe S for "Special" in their minds...

1985 Snakebit Snakeskin TLC Les Paul Custom

No, that is the model - as you can also see from the text. Store models were often "name priced" higher than the selling price, "discounted" by 10-25% to appear to be a nice deal. Common thing for several brands. Come to think of that, one of the stores had a "Crest" line which included models...

1985 Snakebit Snakeskin TLC Les Paul Custom

Cool bunch, huh? I was surprised when they started to pop up, never thought I was going to see one in the wild. Had done searches back in auction history but no matches. Thought the same about the Zakk Wylde Burny, though... :D

1985 Snakebit Snakeskin TLC Les Paul Custom

As Fisch says, this was an Ishibashi special, in their Yokohama store only - one of four finishes, where two of them were snake skins (grey and blue). The other two were color splash and lightning ("Inazuma"). 72K yen at the time, model name TLS-800. We do see this same "per store" initiative...

    1993 or 2003 Burny EDIT: 1999

#1 - reverse Showa - 653013 -> 31-03-56 aka 31-03-1981 #2 - reverse Showa, but with an apparent typo, the last two digits should be reversed. We do see such typos from time to time -> 454006 -> 06-04-54 -> 06-04-1979 #3 - Jan 8th 1988, same format as before. The Y is just before the date on...
