Hum cancelling occurs when you use two single coils, one with reverse magnetic polarity. The middle pickup on a strat usually has this reverse magnetic polarity, so hum cancelling should only occur in positions 2 and 4. Middle pickup in combination with either the neck or the bridge pickup. I dont t...

Plain top, two piece back UK model. Not absolutely sure, but I think it's an ULS85 or ULS90 in custom wine red finish. Maybe the position switch cover is fitted by a left handed Japanese. You could check the UK tokai site for the specs.

This is the tenon of my UK LS-150. Looks the same as the guitar we're talking about in this thread.

I don't mind the open book headstock with a torn out page on the UK import models, but this dimple/pimple/nib or whatever looks ugly. Also the nut looks too small for the neck. Maybe the guitar had some upgrades, but it's not nicely done.

It sounds like you need to read this excellent article by one of our members: http://www.tokairegistry.com/tokai-info/Andrew%20Munro%20Article-July2008.pdf If you have any questions after you've read that, let us know. Goldstar vs. Springy Sound

Hi fellow Tokai owners,

I'm in the market for a nice '80s stratocaster copy. Tokai of course. Two names regularly pop up, Goldstar and Springy Sound, with the Goldstar being a bit cheaper. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between these models?

Thanks,
Woz

Looks like a simple preamp similar to this: http://www.plaatjesupload.nl/bekijk/2010/03/31/1270047765-620.gif A picture from the back of the circuit board would be helpful to see how the components are wired. Edit: Without a picture I'd say: Blue to pickup Yellow to output jack Red battery positive ...

I think it depends on your other gear as well. I wouldn't go for the LS150 if you play a relatively cheap solid state amp. Maybe the LS90 and a nice little tube amp (like a Fender Pro Junior) fits in the budget? That would be a nice combination IMO.

One day you'll be wondering if a solid maple top, one piece mahogany back and nitro finish really makes a difference and you'll end up buying a LS150 anyways. So I'd go for a LS90Q. In a few years you will have two Tokais!

I have an UK LS150. It has push pull tone pots that actually don't do anything cause they're not connected. If I want to use them I need to change the pickups to four conductor ones. So I'm wondering, does Tokai expect me to change the pickups? If not, why do they provide push pull tone pots? Accord...
