These look like they were Korean built...Agile maybe? They've got a similar headstock and stumpy lower bout. This wasn't the Canadian Tokai site from the 80's was it :p

Sadly there's nothing in the pics that really pins down the builder :( As mentioned there is a lot of info regarding the Profile Fender style guitars but zero on the Les Pauls. They DID make bolt on LP copies and they're easier to pin down compared to the set necks. It DOES look like a solid cap...

Chushin might be a good fit. That Diamond inlay definitely isn't Tokai: web friendly images Compared to yours you can see that they're different. Unusual not to have JAPAN stamped on the pots if they're original.

I believe it's a MiC John Sykes model and rather overpriced.

I've been seeing these "TGC" inlayed guitars popping up a lot lately. They are 100% Chinese but unsure as to whether they are 100% Tokai. Will contact Tokai and find out if this is a thing or not :)

I can tell you that whoever told you that this was a 1978 Tokai needs a swift kick to the goolies. The headstock "nipple" only came in for Tokai sold outside of the Japanese domestic market in roughly 2000 I believe? Doubting that it's Tokai as the appointments don't match the headstock....hope...

So how do you reckon that Fujigen Gaki built a guitar for Tokai? I have many Tokai and many Fujigen guitars (Aria...Greco etc) Feel free to point out how Fujigen EVER built guitars for Tokai. Tokai built for other builders but Fujigen or Matsumoku NEVER built for Tokai to the best of my knowledge

You'll all thank me for coming back here shortly from the looks of things around here. This guitar is in NO way a Tokai..!!! Tokai have NEVER made a single guitar EVER with an Epi headstock. What the hell is wrong with you all.....the poor guy has over paid for a fake. Nice to see that nothing...

Same here...the black poker chip around the jack socket looks stoopid but hey ...looks legit to me
