    Strat pickup question

I think I've answered my own question. Looking at this 1984 catalog, It seems that the TST-50s came with VIIs and the TST-60s with Vs presumably marked VIs: http://brochures.yokochou.com/guitar-and-amp/tokai/1984/en_05.html

    Strat pickup question

I've just bought a goldstar from around 1984, I think it's an ST50 or ST60, I don't know any way of identifying which. The guitar is a 50s copy with a maple neck. It has VI marked pickups. I've done a lot of searching but haven't found much info on these. How do VIs fit into the pickup picture?

Looking for some help with my tone control AST-62

Mega bump but thanks for the help, I've finally done the master volume and tone option as it was the easiest. I like this AST more all the time, here's a little clip I did to celebrate :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZeNdJoDAkY

Looking for some help with my tone control AST-62

I don't have a tone control that works on my bridge pickup on my AST, also I don't appear to have the capacitor that every other Tokai seems to. The bottom tone knob controls the middle pickup and the top knob controls the neck pickup. This is the best picture I have I'm afriad...

Help with identifying pickups and sustain block AST-62

I'm 99% sure they are original, when I unscrewed the scratch plate, the dust and bits of the poly coating that came off suggested it had never been opened before. Also I have seen pictures of unmarked pickups while trying to find out what these are. I'm guessing that these 85-86 pickups are...

Help with identifying pickups and sustain block AST-62

I saw this: http://www.tokairegistry.com/images/catalogs/tokai_85-86_electric_p3.jpg which describes the pickups as C.A.R - so Tokai copies of the original pickups. What I really want to know is if the Fender custom shop 69 pickups are going to be an upgrade to what I have got...

Help with identifying pickups and sustain block AST-62

Hi, I'm looking for a bit of help with my AST-62 Here are few pictures of my pickups, can someone tell me what type they are? These pickups are crazy bright but seem to give a nice enough tone. The one problem I have with this guitar is that it's not loud enough on the initial hit of...

    Hi, new member AST-62

hehe they are already inseperable I'm afraid!! TBH, that amp didn't cost much more than the AST. The super basses are the bargains of the marshall world, they are as near as dammit the same circuit of the mid 60's JMPs at a fraction of the cost :) Here's a few more pics of the guitar, perhaps...

    Hi, new member AST-62

Hi there, I was directed to these forums by a helpful guy tristram505 on youtube. I've been wanting a strat for a long time but couldn't afford a Fender. A long time ago someone at school had a great Tokai LP and the clips on youtube sounded great so I decided to go Tokai. I was actually...
