Hi, received this guitar last friday. It's a Greco Super Real EG (plain top) from -80 but I have no idea which model. Anyone who could help me?

It's very much in players condition with a lot of scratches and "dings" but the top is in good condition and evrything works as it should. It looks like the model identification tag was the oval kind, not the square type that I've seen on EGF 850 and upwards. Seems not to have the deep joint? After looking in catalog scans it could be an EG500, EG700 or EG900. Does the EG900 have the deep joint? Is there any way to identify which model number it is? It has fret bindings but I believe all Grecos from that period had that even the EG500? The pickup's doesn't have any marks exept an "X" on the bridge pu.

It's very nice to play and at least I don't need to worry about making a scratch or something :)

Another thing that surprised me when looking closer in the catalog was that it seems like all EG models from -80 has Super Real on the headstock? I thought only the high end models had the Super Real logo?

Ok thanks. What's the difference between a 450, 500 and 700? Any specific signs on this guitar that makes it a 450/500?

Franquly, I cheked you pictures very quickly. That sunburst is often seen on the eg-450 so I figured out it was one but I might be wrong. Looks like there's some cool features ( long tenon, binding over ze frets etc...) looks a bit too good for a eg-450. Maybe a EG-700.

Plain Top Burst Models (eg Tobacco Burst) from Super Real 1980 catalogue

EG900 PAF pickups (DiMarzio?), 2 piece top, Super Real logo.

EG800 PU-2 pickups, 2 piece top, Super Real logo.

EG700 U-2000 pickups, 2 piece top, Super Real logo.

EG500 U-1000 pickups 3 piece top, Super Real logo. I have this model and it has a solid (not chambered) body.

EG480 UD pickups 3 piece top "No Super Real Logo"

EG450 UD pickups 3 piece top "No Super Real Logo"

Also some EG450's and EG-480's have a 2 piece top and chambered (not solid) bodies.

For 1981 the EG500, EG480, EG450 have a Super Power logo instead of a Super Real logo and the EG800 had no logo where the Super Real logo usually was.
Also the 1981 truss rod cover was changed from a bell shape to a more curved shape

Thanks for great info :) . This would mean it's an EG700 or higher because it has a 2 piece top. If I remember correct from the catalog scans, the EG800 didn't have any pickup covers so then it's down to EG700 or EG900 (if the PU's are original on my guitar).

This one has become a favourite of mine, really impressed with it.
