I'm interested in any information on the 'V' stamped pickups.

I've seen the 'VI' stamp and the 'VII' stamp that are on Goldstars. The catalogues refer to them as 'Original Vintage' and 'Vintage MkII' respectively.

The mid-80's also sees the AST models with 'C.A.R.' (California Accurate Reproduction) pickups. I'd like to know what the stamps are on these pickups. Anyone with an AST56/62 care to offer an answer?

Thanks.

I have a GoldStar -85 with pickups marked VII, they sound fantastic!!
Strat tone and Stevie Ray galore! I think their better than the one's in the Silver Stars market U or H. Those sound good on low volumes, but they can't handle lots of overdrive.
