Hi Cross , mate i'd say it has a 2 piece maple top 2 piece mahogany back {maybe 3} and a mahogany set neck. Here is a review of the same model........cheers Mick

Mate, the neck joint should be quite good, the early and very sort after super reals have the same joint.{Mark, correct me if i'm wrong?} I'm pretty sure the extended tenon or long tenon didn't appear until the "Mint Collection" guitars from 1982 and on. It is still a better neck joint compared with the much more expensive Gibson lp standards, .......Cheers Mick

Please, can you tell me, what to you think, which model is it?
It has fret edge binding - so I think it will be higher than eg500.

Greco custom ID help!

Post by pimphat » Sun Oct 07, 2007 4:33 pm

Hey all, newbie here. I have two grecos at the moment one is a standard EG-700 (which i absolutely love) and i just picked up an lp custom model but cant work out the id. Here's a pic of the inside neck pickup cavity. It reads: S-68 EGC-7(UNREADABLE) i THINK IT'S A 5. Also has the funky headstock logo and slimmer neck. Can anyone help me date this custom? I'll get more pics of it up soon. I left all of my gear at my drummers house....doh! Heres the pics:

Headstock looks just like this one....

Hi Big Ace, i was looking at a Les Paul bass with that logo and it was made in japan, could just be a different factory ??...........cheers Mick.

It should have a serial number like the 3rd image from the left at
http://www.cosmikdebris.co.uk/grecopics.htm#serial

logo is the 3rd image from the left at
http://www.cosmikdebris.co.uk/grecopics.htm#logo

The Greco open book headstock models were stopped before 1994 and probably before 1992.
The lower priced Grecos with no serials seem to be made by Cort in Korea and are from the late 80s but some no serial Grecos don't seem to be from Cort.
