has anyone ever bought from this online store?
is it reliable?

It's not a corporation so one must be careful before buying...

So I'm curious, in case I want to buy an orville, wether I should go to this guy...

thanks

Oh by the way just so the topic doesn't get misunderstood, I'm asking this because I intend to buy a guitar from japanguitars.co.uk , but have never experienced buying from an online store that is not a major corporation, so this is not an harmful question in anyway...

I was told the person who sells the guitars, visits this forum, so I'm sure there has got to be some feedback from buyers here...

thanks

Keep in mind if you buy you're going to be paying for the UK import tax (around 20% - what he pays getting them from Japan) and shipping to where you are, could be another $100 if you're not in the UK. It can add up to several hundred dollars.....Obviously he has to pass those costs on to the buyer.

IMO, unless you fall in love with something he has in stock, you're better off buying direct from Japan, either via ebay or http://www.digimart.net

Yes, depends on where you are. If you're in europe you won't pay anything so it remains the same in the end...

the thing is that he has great stock, other places don't... digimart does ahve stock, but it's all in japanese, how can I buy from them?

thanks

Prices seem a bit high though. Part of the appeal of these guitars, for me, is the 'lower' prices.

hi thats me
...my prices are high compared to what you can by them for in japan ..but as was pointed out I have to ship them to the UK and pay the 22% import fees ...the main reason I set up the site was so buyers in the UK can try these wonderful guitars before buying, however I have sold lots to europe and a few to the US...I offer a full exchange policy if you dont like the guitar you get ..just pay the shipping and I will swop for another of your choice..I have 200+ positive feedback on ebay as
"generalunrest" and this is my hobby...(although I do make a profit on my guitars )..each one I sell is cleaned and set up correctly, and I play them all myself before recommending any particular one ..Its a labour of love for me to do this ..I enjoy it very much and meet lots of great guitarists.. I offer a very personal service and if you buy off me and are not in any way delighted then I will sort it out for you ..I stand by all the guitars I sell 100%..they are the cream of the crop from japan..I get the best ones before the japanese sellers who put them on ebay ..and I do charge accordingly for the level of service I provide ....having said all that ..if your in the US you will get similar guitars cheaper from the japanese sellers, as there will be no big import duty hit for you (lucky man) unlike us poor tax abused people in europe..!! lol..

however if there is something you particularly are after and I have it, then it is unlikely that you would find similar elsewhere..I do specialise in Orville by Gibsons as I love these guitars ..but I buy all the high end LP 's in greco/tokai and burny(and a couple of unknown others) when I see them...the high end tokais are now getting to be silly money in japan ..and so I am focusing more on the other brands ..I can get LS120/150/200's now and again ...but they will really cost you lots..and I will only custom order them now ..

cheers markf

thanks for your reply villager, actually I'm in europe, the guitar I'm looking for is a orville by gibson 58 ri, is it possible for you to get a hold of one of these and what would your price be?

thank you so very much

Well you certainly are in the right place. almost half of the regular posters on this forum sell guitars for profit. The thing is most of them don't like to admit it. If you can't find what you're looking for just go to Yahoo Japan and be patient. It will show up. BTW- good reply Villager, nice to see someone step up to the plate around here.

You can translate the Japanese text at

http://www.babelfish.altavista.com/

I never have much luck with the "Translate a web page" link, I Just copy/paste the Japanese text from the auction into the "Translate a block of text" field at the top.

Keep in mind, the translations are NOT perfect, but it'll give you an idea of what the text is.

Lately I found that WorldLingo is better at translating Japanese URLs, especially if they don't end with .htm:
