Do you have a Tokai or Dillion model that has not been reviewed on TokaiRegistry.com? Then spend a few moments and write down your impressions and send them to us.
Reviews don't need to be elaborate, use the ones on the site today as a guideline.
Amp and pedal reviews are also welcome. These will be posted on our GrailTone.com site (www.grailtone.com).

It's not clear to me how I would add a review to the section on your main site. Is there a hidden "submit" button anywhere? And you are referring to all Tokai models, not only the non-copies, right? _________________ ZZee ya, Hans-Jürgen

Do you mean the one that says PM- ? I can send reviews of the new MIK love rocks and the Explorer, both with pictures. |

Is it OK to post a review in the forum, too, so that you could simply copy&paste it to the main site? That way I could easily edit it myself if I have to. At the moment I'm comparing several Love Rocks and PAFs at home and in the rehearsal room, too, so it's likely that I want to change what I wrote the day before... _________________ ZZee ya, Hans-Jürgen

OK, fine. And sorry for hijacking this thread again, but I thought it might be a good idea to list the guitars and pickups I have with me at home right now, so readers could actually tell me what they would like to read (and I don't write a lot stuff that nobody wants to know). Here it goes:
* Tokai Love Rock LS 120 from 1981 with Gibson P-94 single coils (in humbucker size), two-piece tobacco sunburst flamed / quilted maple top (probably solid), one-piece mahogany body, thin neck
* Tokai Love Rock LS 60? from 1985 with Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates and '59 SH-1N, two-piece cherry sunburst flamed maple top (veneer), two-piece mahogany body, thick neck
* Tokai Love Rock LS 60 from 1984 with Gibson Shaw PAFs, two-piece cherry sunburst flamed maple top (veneer), two-piece mahogany body, thick neck
* Tokai Love Rock LS 60? from 1984 with Tom Holmes PAFs, two-piece cherry sunburst plain top (probably solid), two-piece mahogany body, thick neck
* Ibanez Musician ( ) from 1978 with Federico Distortion and old DiMarzio PAF (actually I wanted to rip it apart because of that pickup, but now I'm not that sure anymore...)
* original "Tokai '57 PAF model" pickups from my LS 60
* Mesa Boogie Mark IIB 60W head from 1979 with 1x12 EV ported cabinet
* Fender Bassman head from early 1962 with 4x12 Marshall cab from 1971 (in the rehearsal room)
Pictures of these guitars have already been taken by my band mates (~50 MB), but I don't have them yet, so I can't upload them to my homepage. Maybe I will record some short samples, too, but that will take more time. _________________ ZZee ya, Hans-Jürgen

Yesterday I got a CD from my drummer with 38 JPGs (~1.7 MB each because of the high resolution), this one shows the four candidates in a row in front of my usual amp (Bassman head and Marshall cab). From left to right: 1981 LS 120 tobacco sunburst (Gibson P-94 single coils), 1984 LS 60 cherry sunburst (Gibson Shaw PAFs), 1984 LS 60? plain top (Tom Holmes), and the butt-nekkid girl on the right showing everything she's got is the 1985 LS 60? cherry sunburst with no pickups (Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates at the bridge and '59 at the neck position in the meantime). Here's another picture showing their backs - eww... _________________ ZZee ya, Hans-Jürgen

Actually, I would thing 3 seperate reviews on the Tokai's would be great. The LS120, a LS60 and a article comparing the 84 to the 85 and now that I'm writing this a comparison of the LS120 to the LS60 would be great a well.
Also, a article comparing the Tokai PAF's to the Duncan PG's and '59 would be killer as well.

The problem is that I had to give the two LS 60s (on the right side of the picture) back to my friend in the meantime, so I can only write about what I remember from the last week when I compared all four against each other, i.e. I cannot install my Tokai PAFs in that guitar anymore which has the Seymour Duncans now.
My main point for doing this comparison (besides bragging of course) was to find the best pickup combination for each guitar, and that part isn't finished yet, because I still have my two Love Rocks and the Ibanez with me. So maybe I will write one review of the three LS 60 cherry sunburst models (since they have almost identical specs) and one about the LS 120 which will definitely end up with a set of humbuckers and not with the P-94 single coils. _________________ ZZee ya, Hans-Jürgen
