Dear Forum,

I am trying to determine what kind of bridge is on Roland Orzabal's (Tears For Fears) Goldstar Sound guitar. I am assuming it is a 1984 model.

Is it just a normal strat bridge or the 'Extra Tokai' bridge?

I figured some of you experts could probably pick it out.

Also, the body is probably sonic blue right?

Does anybody have one of these they might want so sell?

Thanks for your help.

You can see it in this fuzzy video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=DeARHY11-y8

I guess it could be the TST70, early 80s Fender strat Dan Smith replica by Tokai before reissues came..

Hi guys,

well spotted, Luis.
It is an ST-70S SOR : Sonic Blue with rosewood fingerboard. These were made between 1981 and 1982 and have a painted headstock with the words " 7okai LIMITED " and a serial number underneath, gold hardware, enclosed tuners, alder body, large ET gold bridge, gold knobs and screws - essentially a repro of Fenders 'The Strat'. They were only available in 4 colours, OW, SO, MR and RR. See page 30 of the 1982 catalog.
I have owned one in OW, and have seen a few more in OW and MR.

Hope this helps
Peter
