Hi all. Im a long time collector of Lawsuits since the late 90s (Im in Japan often). Still rock an OBG firebird, a 1980s Yamaha SA-1000, and some U.S. stuff. Had about 30 in total until now.

So, I picked this up last month in Fukuoka, Japan, for about $390. The store didn't even have info on it. They just said its a 73-75 Mahogany SG special C+ grade, (you can see it has some chips on it, but I like that. The finish seems to be rather thick though). No serial at all. But after looking around here and some googling, I have to say, I haven't seen one like it at all.

I know they say open the pups up, but I dont want to mess with this setup, its perfect right now, so I came to you guys.:)

OK, so what is it like? Wow, wow, wow. The neck feels slightly longer than some other SGs I tried in the past (and one in the store when I bought it, Gibson with baked maple?!?). Very resonant unplugged, p90s are nice and sparkly. The tuners keep tune really well. I was going to swap some parts, but it got new strings and a setup in Japan, and Im just going to enjoy that for a while.

SO, my question for y'all is what is this Greco? Thanks!

That's an odd bird. Some parts look right, others look just plain wrong.

Thank you. What parts do you think look wrong? I see that bridge on a couple Greco SG, as well as the tuners. The plastic is kind of odd, smallish PG and the p90s frames. Could it be the p90s werent original? But if the PG was bigger, there would have been holes, no?

Pickups look odd.... not seen those kind of P90's other than on a Matsumoku made Univox Hi Flier Mosrite copy. Not seen that bridge on a Greco before either...... star tuners are correct like you said. I'd expected to see a bolt neck - pleasantly surprised to see the set neck.

Thanks man. Well, they did say it was a 73-75, but Im not sure, certainly seems that old. So, you think this is Matsumoku? I thought these were Kanda Shokai (Tokai?). Its set neck and its a nice solid neck as well.
