I've played a few of them and also a few equivalent Tokai Flying V models, the TFV70. No comparison in quality or construction, the Tokai build quality is so much higher. It's hard to understand the high price for this Ibanez.

It all comes down to collectibility. These have always been sought after and played by big name players. My 75 Destroyer was one of the best guitars I've ever owned. I really miss that guitar.

They are both good. Just put some Seymour 'Antiquities' in, get some decent pots and caps and you'll be away.

Pretty sure that the Ibanez is more collectible despite having the 'wrong wood' - meaning alder and maple instead of more korina-like mahogany (which I'm presuming the TFV70 had in common with its sibling, the TFV50.)
