Pickups look the same as in my 1979 LS80. Nothing written on them whatsoever, same leads and baseplates.

Glad you got it Cliff, too bad we didn't figure out we were both bidding a bit earlier but that top is really nice.

Canadian friend of mine bought one and had it shipped to me in the the states. That was about a year ago. Same two piece neck. Weighed closed to 10 lbs. The eBay seller stated it was under 9lbs., so my friend was not happy.

I guess it is difficult to find a Tokai under 9 lbs

I have come across numerous Greco EG59 Mint Collection under 9 lbs

Old Reborns are usually heavy but I was lucky to find one under 4 kg (3.8 kg.) and a early Love Rock at 3.7 kg but 2 pieces back). They sound lighter than other Lovr Rocks I tried so light ones and heavier ones have slightly different sound being all good to me, but I just prefer lighter ones.

Case is not original for a LS-80 Cliff.

Do tell about the case... Can't make out the badge... But I do have a reborn old case that looks exactly the same.

Pre 1982 Tokai aren't heavy and one can easily find a LS80 or above model that weighs under 4 kg. The exception is 1978 and LS50&60s which generally are over 4 kg.

Those pickups look pretty much like Goto's to me Cliff.
