I just placed the order on a 1981 jb80 and can't wait getting it.
I searched the internet but few clues about jb120 or jb80, how you can tell the diffences between these two?
Has anyone ever played a jb80 or jb120 before and can tell me something.
catalog said jb80 is a 64 jazz bass copy but tokai's headstock is a slightly different than fender original. tokai just copy the body or neck profile?
btw,I will post my jb80 pics later.

jb80 arrived.
really beautiful. although there are some minor scraches here and there but it is in good condition since it was 31years old.

nitro lacque not poly i am sure. reverse tuners. but not as light as others said. it weighs 4.24kg.

I love veneer fingerboard. someone said his tokai has brazilian rosewood board but mine is ordinary rosewood.

catalog said it is a 64jazz copy but from the headstock you could easily tell the different.

pickups pole pieces are raised, does 64fender's pickup look like this way?

black and white plastic wire. pots are upgraded to CTS, very smooth, former owner also had a Vitamin Q 0.022uf cap on it. I replaced the cap with a vintage paper cap 0.047uf.

still in the set up process, i will let you know how it sounds later.
