Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum an semi new to Orvilles. I'm looking to buy an '89 ObG, Terada serial number, black with gold parts. Comes with original Orville by Gibson gig bag, warranty papers, no hard case.
It has a small chipped area by the binding on the back of the body. The binding, although yellowed due to age, has some parts of the binding where half is the regular yellow color and some smudges or darker yellow lines. For example, in one area, half of the binding is dark yellow and half is light yellow. Could this be binding bleeding from a cover? Maybe someone tried to do some work on the binding?
The guitar also has Bill Lawrence HB-R/L pickups.
The seller is asking for $1200+$150 shipping from Japan. Is this reasonable with the damage and the gig bag?
I'm looking for a guitar to play on, but also hold on as an investment. Is a Terada ObG worth this much? Are gig bags fairly rare?
Appreciate any help!

too expensive.
You can get an Orville by Gibson for 50000yen in Japan.
The variation in colour on the binding might be from some clear coat being chipped off. |

Thanks for the reply. Could you recommend any websites where I could find a cheaper ObG? Maybe a japanese auction website? |

There are plenty.
But where do you live?
If you live in Europe chances are good that you find one that is cheaper bringing one from Japan (shipping and import taxes) are hiiiigh).
By the way, I think those gig bags are fairly common. I have a handful laying around. Nothing I would sell for large money |

I would guess by the shipping rate in the original post you are US based? If you are in the US and you are not in a hurry, you can find a deal. I paid $750.00 including shipping and a Gibson hard case for this one that was already in the States. It is an 89 Terada made ObG.
Here is a link to a guy selling his 97 black Fujigen ObG custom. Maybe that will be of interest. The price he is looking for is right.
