Hi fellow Tokai owners,

I'm in the market for a nice '80s stratocaster copy. Tokai of course. Two names regularly pop up, Goldstar and Springy Sound, with the Goldstar being a bit cheaper. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between these models?

Thanks,
Woz

Same guitar basically, the goldstars were made later, both the same great Japanese build quality, Springy's have more kudos because of the cheeky logo.

It sounds like you need to read this excellent article by one of our members:

http://www.tokairegistry.com/tokai-info/Andrew%20Munro%20Article-July2008.pdf

If you have any questions after you've read that, let us know. A Springy, Goldstar or Silver Star from the same era and with the same sort of model number should be identical in terms of quality.

Yes it is. I mainly joined the forum to find out the answer to the question you just asked. It's a shame that article wasn't around then.

Be warned, Tokais can be addictive.
