I've just been offered a set of MK2 PAFs from a Tokai LS85, but how much (in UK pounds) should I pay for them?
I plan to install them on my Epiphone LP Standard.

You should pay no more than you are prepared to pay. How bad do you want them? What is the price offered?

Marcus you are a coy MF . I just bought a pair, if they are like new, offer $90 U.S., whatever that comes to in quid these days. If they're well used, $70. Money well spent. C'mon Marcus, you're one of the Kings here. Is it now up to the Pawns to give a straight answer? Must I remind you of Monty Python and the Holy Grail?

That's a tricky one.
Second hand Seymour Duncan humbuckers tend to go for ?30-?40 each, but you get quite a few of those flying about so the prices are pretty stable.
Personally I reckon ?10-?15 each at tops, but it's really down to how much you want them.

LOL.... tough room. I should hold off on any comments until I've had my first cup of coffee.

I reckon 50-60 pounds in the UK is a fair price, they are great pickups and will be an excellent upgrade to your Epi.

What they're worth and what you should pay for them are two different stories.

They're worth the same as a pair of the best Duncans, but $80 to $100 is a good price to pay for them.

Having said that, be careful, many LS85 models will have MK3 in them, not MK2 (catalogue #23)...so make sure.

Good point, and since they don't stamp them...make sure they're authentic.

...and how does he do that geniuses?

I took the offer up and paid exactly ?60 for the pair. I think I did okay, but now I'm not sure if they are MK2 or maybe MK3 pups. Is there 'any' way of telling, or even a clue of some kind?
They were taken from a Japanese made Loverock Standard, manufactured in 1999. It was 'probably' an LS75F although today it might be called an LS85F.
They look in good condition, and still have the nickel covers intact.
Can't wait to fit them on my Epi LP Standard.

Seems like a reasonable price for Mk 2s. If it's any help, these were in my 2003 LS70 - or should it be an LS60? I think they are Mk 3s.

You bought MK3s.

My buddy has them in his LS85 Gold Top, he also owns a LP Standard and a Studio, he says the LS85 with the MK3s kills.

So expect the MK3s to sound similar to the stock pups in GLP Standard, the 498 and the 490.

I bought a set of these MK3 (or MK2, who knows?) 25? and an other one ?35.
And 2 sets of MK2 keiyo, one for 70?, an other one 25?, new.
But not on ebay, of course.
Those LP-A are 8,3k, more PAF style than a 14k 498T
The LP-F, 11k, should be closer
