Kind of porous for ebony - my bet is mahogany. It would be helpful to see more of the neck for any visible graining patterns.

It's look like rosewood though.

I am 100% sure it is rosewood. Looks like a nice and dark rosewood though.
It is typical on Japanese guitars.

Another interesting point is that many nicer Japanese LPC have Brazilian rosewood. Probably cheaper at the time but these days it is impossible to use brasilian rw.
