I'm not a huge Les Paul user but I thought it'd be fun to have a decent one to try out pickups in. Nothing fancy, I don't want to feel guilty for mucking about with it . So I saw this but realised I haven't a clue what wood it's made of... Mahogany? Maple? Plywood...?

Thanks!

Here's a little background. They're good guitars.

Thanks, good reading! :)
I guess the one I'm looking at is bottom of the line though, it has one of those set necks with a screw holding it down. Also it has a three screw TRC.
Were these all made in Japan?

As far as I know, they were all made in Japan. There are mixed thoughts on the set/screw necks. Some people say they are better.

The screw is instead of a tvingdj?vel, so as the glue is hardened you can take it away.
If that makes you feel better.

Woops, sorry. I was going to Google the translation but things came inbetween.
Clamp it is.

It would be hard to play the guitar if the tvingdj?vel was still there. A screw is always a better choice!

It really is instead of a clamp while the clue i bonding. So you could unscrew it and threw it away. It doesnt serve any purpose any more!

There is however some Aria Pro II with only two visiable screws through a neckplate that has a couple of 'inboard screws'. This is an unglued joint.
