But John........ it was bid up to 89999999999999999999... that's why the reserve price is there....

He did say "while I was asleep" he must have been dreaming! :D

Is he reading this?.....

I do beleive that the seller of the Cherry Burst Custom is a Greco Mint Collection . The "O" in Greco is open and the pick ups and low grade more than likely an EG-500C....any thoughts?

Here is a 1980 Super Real Custom Headstock

hi
looks mine 3 egc ..... all with serial 2 xxxx..... 2 with pickup numbers with a 5 first .... 2 has the stikers with 500 ...... so i am thinking a 500 :D :D :D
all the best otto

What do you guys think this one is worth? Right now he's got a Buy It Now of $1099. It's been all over the place. When he first listed it he was insisting that it was a Super Real BECAUSE it was made in '82, and despite the open O logo. Thanks

It looks like it has fret-edge binding, doesn't that indicate something a little higher in the line than a 500? Is it worth more than $800 or so? Obviously, nobody has touched it at $1100.

Back on the market... looks like the high bidder never paid ... http://cgi.ebay.com/SUPER-REAL-Greco-1982-Vintage-sunburst-w-GIBSON-HSC_W0QQitemZ290270651333QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item290270651333&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

I see that it is back up. I'm a little leery of the way this guy's run the auction process, but it looks like a nice guitar. Let's put it this way what would one of the forum's "elder statesmen" pay for it? (Fiftywatt, Villager, etc.) I don't have the knowledge base, nor funding to enter into this like some. How 'bout a bailout here!?

I agree, i don't think this guy knows anything about this guitar , it is a transitional model "mint collection" guitar, one of the first models, that colour combination is not in the early mint collection catalogues i have but i'd say it was a "EGC 600-650 with the earlier "super real" neck as it has fret edge binding, this was reasonably common on earlier "mint collection" guitars. It probably has a 2 piece back and top but it is hard to confirm this as the pictures aren't that great. I probably would pay as much as 850-900 US for this guitar maybe a little more if i really wanted it but at the moment i won't be buying anything as the Aussie exchange rate is totally screwed at the moment due to the financial crisis........Hope this helps

Mick

i have been doing a bit of research on greco guitars and came up with this, the only custom model greco from the "mint collection" in that colour i could find is a "EG 500C" This is from the late 1981 "Mint Collection" catalogue, i think this was the first catalogue for the "Mint Collection" .

Totally agree Mick, for US buyers that's a great price! For us from the UK or Aus with the current exchange rates maybe not :(
