I'm new to the Forum. I just purchased an early eighties Tokai Springy Sound. It has, however, a Robin RV-2 Body (made by Tokai). Any ideas?? I'll have it in my hands on Wednesday. The guy I got it from says it plays incredibly. Thanks in advance for any insight.

The early Robin's (first 2 years maybe) were made by Tokai in Japan.

That's what I was told. I believe it was 1981 and 1982. My real question is what do I have? A Robin expert told me that he'd seen one other guitar like mine, but nobody knew if it was a leftover body mated to a Springy Sound neck or a model Tokai offered in Japan at the same time. That's what I'm wondering. Hoping somebody can fill me in. Thanks.

Most strange. A while ago there was a guy selling a Hard Puncher Bass on EBAY from England The body was identical in its finish as that guitar. He said the Bass was an 81 model. The bidding never got above 173 quid and it was withdrawn with the reserve having not been met.

I recently posted this in the bass section re:VSB in top right corner, but I thought I'd put it on here as well, as it looks like your guitar and that P-bass are both on here. I think I copied this from a fairly recent ebay auction--the seller said it was from 1982, and it would likely be early '82 as the blanked out guitars are marked "April release".

Hope this helps!...
