Anyone have any opinions on these? I was thinking about trying them out in my ES-120.

Are they the P90s in the humbucker sized casing?

Hey Mike, that's right. I'm thinking they'd sound pretty bitchin in my ES-120. I'll probably try them but I'd like a few opinions if anyone else has already tried them.

I asked about these a few months back (I think Kent Armstrong make a similar model too), so there will be an old thread on here if you want to do a search for it. The replies I got suggested that they are basically Strat pickups in a HB sized case, so they're not really P90 substititues. But I haven't tried them, so I can't comment.

I was asking because I was curious that nobody had ever made a 335 type guitar with P90s, which seemed strange - if you can have an SG with P90s, why not a 335? It seems that you thought the same thing as me!

I seem to recall seeing some 335's with P90s recently. I'm not sure where though - maybe an Epiphone Casino?

Anyways, yeah I'd like to try them but I definitely don't want to modify my guitar.

I'll take a look for that thread, thanks. I did find a few but none that were specifically for the Phat Cats. Guess I gotta look harder...

Jason.

P.S. I'm putting pics up of the mystery Bacchus strat I bought recently. If anyone can help me identify the model, that'd be great.

A Casino is a very different beast to a 335 - a Casino is basically the same as a Gibson ES330 - hollow bodied. A 335 (as you know) has a solid centre section, it's more of a solid body guitar. A 330/Casino is a proper acoustic guitar, albeit a slim one.

If you want a Bacchus identified, JohnA is your man. He seems to have started a Bacchus farm way up north - I think he hopes they're going to breed if he buys enough of them.....

Just because I have a nice little Bacchi collection doesn't mean I'm an expert I have three 'vintage series', two strats & a tele, and I don't even know what year they are from!

You have as many Bacchi as I have Goldstars, yet some people seem to think I'm a Goldstar expert, which I'm not.

That's right Mike, I don't know what I was thinking about the Casino. Anyways, I'm interested to see what the es will sound like. Unfortunately it's one of my guitars back in Canada so I'll have to wait until Xmas for the experiment.

Luis, if that's no trouble to you that'd be awesome. Thanks! I guess Mike will be interested to hear the results as well.

I will be interested, but I did manage to acquire a battered old 330 (lots of non-original bits) since I first enquired, so my P90 needs are now quite well covered.

I don't actually have anything with humbuckers that I could replace since I sold my LS48.

Hi there,

Have a SD phat cat installed in the neck position of my ESP Ron Wood Signature Tele. Good but dark sounding. Would be tempted to swap out the Alnico 2 magnet for an Alnico 5 to see whether that would brighten it up a little.

Best regards,
Mole Man
