Can anyone give me an idea how old my Tokai Strat is ?
Idenifying marks are;
1. The neck plate, 5 figure serial number 23415.
2. The pickup, 'VI' stamped on the underside.
3. The body, neck pickup route has had 'CR V' stamp inside, and there are other numbers.
4. The pick guard has 'EG20' writen on the underside.

The guitar appears to be in the style of a 50's reissue, vintage tuners, trem and number of hole in pick guard the being most obvious, but the approx year of manufacture would be nice thanks.

Hi Freddy,

Unfortunately, on the Fender copies the serial number doesn?t give the date of manufacture ? it just indicates which US Fender model is being copied. Eg, a 5-digit S/N implies copy of 1956-60 US Strat (see Tokai Registry, and look under ?Tokai Info?).

The easiest way to date your guitar is from the style of the Tokai Decal & shape of the headstock. Otherwise the model number is often stamped in the pup cavity or neck pocket. Very early Tokais (pre. 1980), have the model number impressed into the end of the fretboard :-? .

Ian.
