I assume you experimented with pickup height? TSs are very sensitive to that, they can sound awful if you get it a bit out.

Yes, I tried different pickup heights with no luck. :( Anyway, I have kept the neck because is reverse wounded and in the middle position you have no hum. However, neck and bridge do not mix well, too muddy. I'd need independent volume controls.

Incidentally, why do so many pickup manufacturers not bother to stamp on the bottom who made the pickups and what model they are?

I don't know. The Fender OV bridge that I have now is not marked at all either.

But it's true, they can sound great on one guitar, and terrible in another guitar. They work best with ash/sen bodied guitars, in my experience. They were awful in my US Strat, but great in my sen Springy, so they do work in Japanese guitars!

My CIJ52 is ash and no way with TS. Now with the OV Bridge it sounds great but it is one of those exaggerated Telecasters with too much twang

Mine has the same switch but mini-pots  I had to replace the whole tone-control because regular CTS pots didn't fit the plate holes nor the top hat holes.

Oh, I know that game well. Can't use a dremel on a piece of metal.

Not all mini pots are bad though, one of my Fuji-Gen guitars has them and I kept them because they have a very low tolerance (very close to 500k, 500.3 or 4) and they have a nice resistance when turned.

I have a 2005 ls150 VF flame top I bought two months ago here in this forum. It is a Uk version from coda music I think. Are they the same guitars as the ones sold in Japan ? I know the head is slightly different.
The top is not a 3A or even a 2A, I think it is between a plain top and flame top.

8) seems like there have been 3 major LS150s lately..........

1........LS135/150.........plaintop japa replica class.

2........LS150/195.........figuredtop japa replica class. 2A grade figured top.

3........LS150-UK..........figuredtop UK market only high quality japa replica

@ real cool huh this the UK only LS150 figuredtop model. super spec it even has western electric wires. too maniac!

the best choice!

 whoever has those UK special LS150 should be quite happy!
forget about a dimple, its only a very little there in between
and tokai is tokai not gibson. the trussrod cover is way more
different from gibson one anyways so not a bad matter at all
that dimple thing. no big deal. the UK LS150 is cool no doubt!

it even has western electric wires. too genuine!!!!!

I don't like the finishes of those UK models which are currently on eBay (LS135 which is now LS150 in Japan).

And that is NOT tobacco sunburst either...

ls135tbb1.jpg

I asked the seller about it and he didn't reply. I don't think they even make those in TS.

And CS? No, thanks.

ls135csa1.jpg

8) your taste is your taste and tokai changes the color nuance
every once in a while slightely at least. or a bigger change in
a long while. every gtr company does that. so its normal and
no problem. someday your fav kind of color might come......

The problem are not nuances, the seller mislabeled it. This model is not offered in Tobacco Sunburst, only in CS, VF, SB, GT.

There is no way that TS looks like the picture I posted.

You know I love VF, I will have to keep on looking.

the price of the brazillian RW is 52500 yen more than the standard RW.
LS370 in lemonburst will be 420000 yen by the custom order.
we usually dont do lemonburst so we need your color sample
when to do.

Thanks for asking Tokai  Unfortunately, I can't access the web page provided but it is interesting to find out that some of the pick ups are still Keiyo.

LS370 is specified as Jacaranda fingerboard. If LS370 is not Braz RW, then what does it mean Jaracanda?

So, a LS370 Lemmon Burst would be 420000 yen + 52500 for the Braz RW = 472500 + 20% European custom taxes = 567000 yen (more or less 4200?) We are almost in the Gibson Custom Shop price fringe.

BTW, the lemmon burst finish is just the first layer of yellow nitro before you apply the cherry red next to the borders. You try to reproduce an old burst that has already lost all the reactive paint, like the Peter Green burst.

8) jacaranda is exactly brazillian RW. what tokai means here is that
they charge about 50000 yen more for brazillian on the standard
RW charge. this is not about LS370 but your custom model based on
any catalog model. i asked for lemonburst like peter green burst
but tokai usually dont do that color so they need the color sample.
if the color is just simply "amber" then tokai does it theirs easily
i think. but i guess many of us dont like that too orange amber.
so like they said. if you want a custom order ls370 in lemonburst.
you need to pay 420000 yen the list and have to give them
the color sample. then you can try some discount from your dealer.
and after all how much its gonna be is all up to your dealer and
your talk. its gonna be less than 400000 yen i am sure so try if
you want. it all seems possible now.

8) this model LS125F/135F is very cool and reasonable model actually.
its concept is similar with greco EGF1200 "sunburst lady" and LS120?
the basic high end model in lacquer with the laminated figured top.
and multi-piece back. yet the materials are good and the looks
is very cool so thats why tokai doesnt add the pickguard to it to show
off its cool figured top. the model# is also very close to those other
similar model #s........like egf1200 and ls120.....both were 120000
yen the list price back then and now this model was ls125f, 125000
yen til the last price change. pretty cool model actually. i like it!

(THIS MODEL IS CONSIDERED TO BE VERY COOL BY TOKAI
AND THATS WHY THIS MODEL HAS NO PICKGUARD YET AVAILABLE
IN "LEMON DROP" COLOR THAT EVERYONE WANTS!
ONE AND ONLY "LEMON DROP" MODEL IN LACQUER!)

I don't understand why veneered models are available in Lemon Drop and not any of the highest models. That Violin Finish in LS250 and above is too dark.

It's offered in BR, Brown Sunburst...not Tobacco.

The photo I posted was VF, that's the one I am currently after. The guitar I've seen on eBay looked nothing like that nor anything like TS so it probably was Brown Sunburst.
