Then I would like to present my project here also times briefly:

I bought the Greco EGF850 from the forum member John A. Thank you, a super guitar!
The errors were me well-known and were described in detail by John.

It's CRAZY what you guys are able to do! I'm completely stunned by what guitar love can do!
Congrats!

wow, that is an amazing job :D

love that neck puller tool 8)
did you utilze steam, or any other heat source, when pulling the neck?

Reminds me a lot of much of the work I have seen over at the ReRanch Forum

Again, great work, thanks for sharing & congrats

I originally bought the guitar to restore, and once I got it I really didn't have a clue where to start!! Ed did an amazing job on it, and assures me it sounds just as good as it looks!!

Ed, if you want to return it for a full refund you know where to find me

congrats nice job with the restoration!

this is the first time to me to see super real era high end model demolition pics, thanks big ed!

this one looks normal tenon/dowel tenon before the restoration?
should super real era high end models incl. egf850 and upwards have that "famous" extension lip or is it in the egf1200 model only?

mark, i think the one you've seen with the lip > egf1200 right? must have been a custom order or some sort of proto?? "onetimer"?

wish i could see some demolition pics of the egf1200 to get more proof ... anyone?

8) hi big ed, can u tell us about how thick was the original greco
laminate???

The original cover consists of 2 layers veneer:

greco_furnier.jpg

The cover veneer from maple = 0.5 mm
The lower veneer from spruce = 0.75 mm

The new veneer consists of 1.5 mm fiddleback maple veneer.

8) thanks big ed, thats really what i wanted to know! that thin huh.....

here's a link to my old 1980 EGF-850
http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=9178

delaminating veneer top was easily 1.5 mm thickness ..............

delamination of veneer tops is the reason I DO NOT OWN ANY veneer topped guitars, period :D ..............

try & give me an EGF-1200; NO THANKS .........................

This might be the coolest thread I've seen on here yet! Very nice job - that is one beautiful guitar! Are you a woodworker by trade or is it simply a hobby?

Again, terrific job!

John, do you know the story behind what caused that to happen??? It seems like it would've had to been stored in a hot attic for a looooooong time or something to develop a condition that severe....

I can't stop looking at the after pics!!! :p :p :p

Sorry Ryan, I don't know the story behhind the guitar, but someone had done a very bad neck reset before I bought it. I got the guitar from Yahoo Japan, but the pics on there didn't really show the extent of the damage, I bought it to restore myself, but once I got it realised it was way out of my league.

I think Ed is a carpenter by trade, but restores and builds guitars as a hobby, he is obviously a VERY talented chap!
