Bah, I can't decide whether to get a goldtop or not. My wife sais they look like a guitar that Elton John would get, which not made it easier to decide, last time I ask her.
I like them especially with P90's. Either a goldtop with P90's or black with P90's, sigh, I need to decide :-?

What would the wife know! Goldtops rule!!

Elton John? Try John Lee Hooker, Freddie King, Snowy White, Junior Watson, Rusty Zinn, etc. etc.

It's THE colour for an LP, & an LP is THE guitar for a gold finish. A Strat looks good in gold, an LP looks great in gold.

IMHO, of course. :p

I tried with John Lee Hooker and she looked like a question mark, Keith Richards worked better :)

I'm going to get a goldtop!

Well Elton John signed one once....

Hi everyone, This is my first post, I would like to thank you all for the good info i have found here, it has really helped me in choosing my les paul style guitar. So i bought myself a Tokai LS150 GT, and the guitar has not disappointed me at all it is really nice to play. The only problem i had was the mk11 pickups were very microphonic. After I dipped them in wax it sorted them out. I think the pickups now sound really good. Just out of interest I have recorded some clips from different amps i have built, just the guitar and amp, no pedals. I think it is better that way so you can really hear how the pickups sound. Maybe that could be of some use to people who are thinking of buying a Tokai Guitar. The clips are just home recordings.

I used to have a Gibson 69 Les Paul Goldtop Duluxe, wich I sold in 94 (for a mesely 1100 euro's back then ;) ) in favour of a Patrick Eggle Berlin Deluxe, and I am an vivid Eggle collecter owning 7 now.
But the goldtop always remained in the back of my head, now I treated myself on this beauty a 1981 Love Rock LS-80 GT.
Love it!
Want to thank Ned for running this forum it has already proven to be a great resource of info to me.

Here's a video demo I did of my LS85. Stock everything.

The only thing I did was up the guage of strings to 11's to 49's.
