Heya again,

after searching all available sources for info about this one, i?ll give it a try again in this forum and i?ll post some pictures of the headstock. The serial number is 9102621 which points to a building year of 1991. As a headstock like this never appeared on any catalogue i?ve seen, would it be possible that this is a "fake-tokai"?! Actually not a very strong theory in my opinion. I?d be very grateful for any further information or at least a source for it.

Hi Ned,

no, I didn?t got a case with it, I bought it as it is. I also had a look at the pickups which appear to be original Tokai-Humbuckers, but no PAF?s - they sound definitely too fat and "hot".

I'd go with a 91 LC but the other guitars we've seen with that headstock are early 80's late 70's.

Next time you change the strings check in the neck pickup cavity for some kind of code.

Ned,

Inside the front pickup cavity is written (kinda stamped) the foolowing:

S-61
LC 60

::alex

well its definately a LC-60, check it out on the catalog page.

Need to get more cavity codes and serial numbers to try and derive any meaning from the serial number.

Ned

It's obviously a Gibson but some bright spark decided to forge the "Tokai" logo to give it some credibility. :0)
