Hello everybody,
I'm thinking about replace the bridge (and perhaps the alu tailpiece ?) on my ES100J, for intonation enhancement ...
I'm lost with imperial Vs metric, ABR, Nashville or whatever we can find on these beautiful gibs-like guitars ... which type of bridge would fit ? Any ideas ?

Thank you very much ! :D

I have an 81 ES100J as well. You should have an aluminum tailpiece now - at least mine does. Your bridge should also have solid brass saddles - which are top shelf in my opinion.

Replacement parts on Tokais and most other MIJ brands are METRIC and not imperial. USA parts won't fit in most cases.

Where are you located? I think the best aftermarket bridges, tailpieces and LOCKING studs are the Faber products. Here in the States, you can get them from C V guitars at www.cvguitars.com and here is a product/pricelist: http://www.cvguitars.com/parts/FaberRPL-110107.html

In Europe, they are available from forum member togps and here is the link to his site showing the available bridges (I'd stay with the 59 ABR)

I've bought a few of these kits for my various guitars and they really make a big difference in the over all flavor of the sound.

Thanks, marcus. I'm in France, and I will ask togps.
I have a Epiphone Lennon Revolution w/ ABR1 bridge, and, as you mention, this *pure* US part does not fit on the Tokai.

Hi Guyz,

Here is my ES100J :

Frets were not in a very good shape :

So, I decided yesterday to reshape them :

That's it :

And then, 7th fret relief is < 0,1mm, string height is 1.5mm (measured at 17th Fret) and the sound is :D

Very nice work and luthier skills. I'll send you my twin to your guitar when she needs a dressing.

Great fret job! where did you get the tools? i want to start giving my guitars fret dressing, is it hard to learn?
cheers!

I got the tools from stewmac ...

My advice would be : start with a bolt on neck (tele, strat : I bought a cheap strat neck on eBay for training purpose ;-)
