Amazing !!!! Not the video, that was pretty cool, but the fact that the music at the end was a song I heared on the radio about 6 weeks ago, thought 'that's cool', and had no Idea who it was. Now I know the band's called Total Movement.

Cheers Dave!

Strange pics to accompany that - a bunch of cool looking black dudes - but aren't many of the players on that track white? A comment on YouTube says that Roy Buchanan was the guitarist, but Wikipedia reckons it was Duane Eddy & Al Casey. It's not typical Buchanan stuff, but it can't be Duane Eddy! Anyone know?

Dick Dale showing just how good spring reverb can sound:

Here's the definitive Ray Sharpe story (it wasn't Roy Buchanan). He still plays around town and pops into some of the local open mic nites some times:

And a video from a couple years ago:

Ah, interesting, thanks for that. So Duane Eddy's band backed him on Linda Lu? Cool. Any idea who played lead on the track? Was it Sharpe?

I'll ask my buddy Hash Brown. He knows Ray well.

Here's the Linda Lu story from Hash Brown:

Marcus,
That's Duane Eddy and his band backing up Ray Sharpe on
'Linda Lu'(along with Al Casey on second guitar). In fact, they
backed him on the entire first Ray Sharpe session for Jamie Records
(#1128, rereleased on Bear Family records BCD 15888 AH).
The sessions we're done in 1958 in Phoenix, AZ;
under the direction of Lee Hazelwood. Duane Eddy was
also a Hazelwood artist, that is how he came to be used on the session.
The first record was 'My Baby's Gone/That's the Way I feel' released in
late 58'. I didn't get much attention. 'Red Sails in the Sunset/Linda Lu'
was released in August 59', and the b side became the Billboard hit. Ray still
plays and sings pretty strong for his 70 year age. He will be 71 in February.
I played with Ray pretty heavily around 2002-2005, and he is singing and playing
with lots of energy still. He learned to play guitar pretty well, and he really echo's
the Duane Eddy guitar style from his first sessions.

Interesting, thanks. I'm not sure how to read that, is he saying that Duane Eddy was the lead guitarist on the original track?

Answer:

That is why I tried calling Ray, to see if I could get a straight
answer. I really think Duane Eddy was playing the rhythm
part, and Ray was playing lead, but everything I have read has
Duane Eddy with Al Casey on guitars.
